Innovation has taken a massive leap in almost every segment today. Multiple electronic equipment manufacturers have landed into the automotive world with high aspirations. Apple is one of the tech giants aiming to provide class-apart features and introduce breathtaking technology in the Apple Car. This automotive project has been referred to as the 'Project Titan' for a long time and was rumoured to be developed in multiple parts of the world. Apple was even found testing Autonomous driving equipment on Lexus RX540h SUVs. A few German reports also suggested the development of this project in a secret lab set up in Berlin, having top automotive experts working on issues like concepts, manufacturing partnerships, and sales/governmental obstacles.
Recently, we saw BMW introduce a colour changing paint technology on one of its concept vehicles. These breathtaking innovations set automotive manufacturers a class apart. To confirm the development of the Apple Car, we recently came across another patent that discusses variable glass opacity. Similar to the photo-chromatic lenses available at an optician, they turn dark when you step out in the sun, but this is the kind of sunroof with adjustable transparency as per the needs of the user. This feature might allow the user to control the sunlight or exterior light entering the cabin without opening or closing the sunroof. Similar results can also be observed in high-end shower cabinets whose panels turn translucent when occupied.
The patent also reveals that Apple plans to equip its cars with glass that opens in a sequence, unlike the regular sunroofs, which are fixed and open entirely at a time. It is expected to work with connected car features like Carplay and voice recognition systems like Siri.
As there are several renders and leaks all across the internet, the reports of developing a self-driving system and patenting features like this sunroof clearly indicate the development of the Apple Car, despite any official statements released by Apple.
