The global debut of the Kia EV9 will play a bigger role in the manufacturers shift towards electric vehicles.
Kia Motors has confirmed that it will globally debut its premium electric SUV, the EV9, in 2023. The Kia EV9 concept was already showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show, 2021. Post-launch, the EV9 will slot in above the EV5, and EV7 SUVs.
Built on the Hyundai Motor Groups Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV9 will be a three-row SUV. Kia has confirmed that it will have a long list of features with OTA updates and Feature On-Demand services.

The battery capacity of the Kia EV9 is still unknown, but Kia claims that the luxury electric SUV can do 540 kms. Also, with just 6 minutes of charging can add 100 kms to its range. The fast charging capabilities is aided by an ultra-fast charging 350-kW charger that can charge 10%-80% in 20-30 minutes. The Kia EV9 will also be quicker with a claimed acceleration from 0-100 kmph in under six seconds.
The concept EV9 measures 4,930 mm in length, 2,055 mm in width, 1,790 mm tall, and sits on a wheelbase i.e. 3,100 mm long. The Concept EV9 features a design that is inspired by water. Sustainable solutions in the form of vegan leather and ecological materials are primarily used inside the cabin. Kia has resolved to curb the use of animal leather in all its vehicles.

The interior of the EV9 takes a very radical approach. The dashboard has a clean design, and the 27-inch ultra-well display keeps matter minimal and mesmerizing. Further features include media, climate control, and several other comfort functionality features.
Coincidentally, both Hyundai and Kia Motors have set up manufacturing plants in India for electric cars. The updated-generation Hyundai Kona is available in the Completely Knocked Down form and is assembled in HMILs manufacturing plant in Chennai. Kia also has plans to launch their fully-electric SUV, the EV6 in India, which will follow the same route as well. Question is, will the Kia EV9 SUV follow the same path as well?
