Towed Vehicle Recovery Just Got Easier! Here's What You Need To Know!

At times, we tend to park our vehicles in a place where they are not meant to. Not even negligence, but at times we are unaware of the regulations at a particular site. However, the cops won't know your part of running an errand or being involved in an urgency. You get back and find your vehicle disappeared from the spot where You parked it, right? This is a serious issue faced by the public, and the vehicle owner is left stranded on road. Towed vehicle recovery in Delhi just got a tad easier. Here's how!

Towed Vehicle

The Delhi Traffic Police has set up a new system for towed vehicles where the information of the vehicle being towed would be conveyed to the vehicle owners immediately via SMS on their registered mobile numbers. This message would constitute the offence, status of the vehicle and pit location.

Earlier on finding their vehicles missing, the vehicle owners had to travel down to their nearest police station to file a missing complaint or lodge in for a theft. Thereafter, they were informed about the status of their vehicle, which was towed by the traffic police itself. This advanced system would help Delhi Traffic Police to notify the vehicle owner in time and reduce the hassle. The offender can simply pay the desired challan at the pit location and get the vehicle released from the pit location without any hassle.

As per the data collected by the Traffic Police, on the whole, 40 thousand vehicles were towed in the months of December 2021, January 2022 and February 2022. Out of these, 19 thousand were two wheelers, 13 thousand were private four wheelers, 4 thousand were three wheelers, 1 thousand were commercial cars and vans as per the estimate. The rest of the chunk was constituted by Transport carriers, buses and heavy commercial vehicles.

With this advanced system being put on a trail on all these towed vehicles, the vehicle owners found the hassle to be reduced manifold with them knowing the vehicle pit location beforehand. Delhi traffic police currently have twenty one pit locations in the city, and as of now, just the pit location is being sent to the vehicle owner via SMS. In future, the SMS would also inform the vehicle owner about the current location of the vehicle so that the need to deliver the vehicles to the pit locations is eliminated and the vehicle can be released before hand, from the local traffic circle.
