Expert Verdict on FZ Fi
If you are looking for a no-nonsense city bike that delivers on comfort, looks, and efficiency without overwhelming you with features or performance, the FZ-FI is worth a look. It does the basics right - reliable engine, refined ride quality, and solid build - but it’s not the most exciting or tech-forward option in its class.

Should I buy the FZ Fi?
If your priority is to own a muscular, reliable, and easy-to-ride 150cc commuter from a trusted brand like Yamaha, the FZ-FI is a smart choice. It’s budget-friendly and ideal for daily riders who don’t crave high-speed thrills or premium gadgets but value fuel efficiency, refined performance, and a comfortable ride.
However, if you want modern tech, LED lighting, or more power for spirited weekend rides, rivals like the TVS Apache RTR 160, Bajaj Pulsar P150, or even the TVS Raider 125 offer better feature sets for the price. But for college students, office-goers, or first-time bike buyers - the FZ-FI delivers where it counts: simplicity, economy, and durability.
- The FZ-FI carries forward Yamaha’s streetfighter DNA with its sculpted fuel tank, beefy tank extensions, and a compact headlamp design. The new Matte Cyan colour refreshes its visual appeal, while the Metallic Black remains a timeless choice. The overall design is aggressive enough for young buyers, but feels slightly outdated compared to newer competitors in the segment.
FZ Fi body specifications:
Seat Height | 790 mm |
Weight | 135 kg |
Wheel Size | 17 inch |
Fuel Tank Capacity | 13 liters |
- The digital LCD cluster is neat and displays essentials like speed, fuel level, and trip meter. A side-stand engine cut-off adds a safety edge. While Bluetooth functionality is optional, it’s a good addition for those who want smart features. There’s no LED headlamp or modern connectivity suite unless you pay extra, which puts it behind some rivals in terms of standard tech.
FZ Fi features:
GPS & Navigation | No |
USB charging port | No |
Touch Screen | No |
Instrument Console | Digital |
- With 12.4PS and 13.3Nm, the FZ-FI isn’t meant for speed thrills but offers a refined and linear power delivery perfect for daily commutes. The fuel injection ensures crisp throttle response and good mileage. The 5-speed gearbox is slick, though top-end performance is limited. It’s built for comfort, not chaos.

Engine Displacement | 149 cc |
Top Speed | 115 kmph |
Power | 12.2 bhp @ 7250 rpm |
Torque | 13.3 Nm @ 5500 rpm |
- A telescopic fork and a 7-step preload adjustable rear monoshock make the FZ-FI feel planted and predictable. Its lightweight nature and 790mm seat height make it beginner-friendly, while the wide handlebars offer decent maneuverability in traffic. The soft suspension setup favors comfort over sportiness.
- The 282mm front disc and 220mm rear disc with single-channel ABS provide adequate braking power for city usage. There’s no dual-channel ABS, but braking is progressive and predictable. The bike also gets a side-stand engine cut-off for added safety.
