Tata Motors has launched the Sierra EV starting at Rs. 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom), going up to Rs. 26.48 lakh (ex-showroom). Sierra has been an iconic SUV nameplate, and following the success of the Sierra ICE, it is now time for the EV. It comes with a long list of features, and in this article, we explore what the Sierra EV offers over rivals like the Mahindra BE6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6, and Maruti e Vitara.
540-Degree Camera

The all-new Sierra EV comes with a 540-degree camera - a step beyond the 360-degree cameras that most cars offer. While a 360-degree camera provides a surround view of the car, the 540-degree setup goes further by also allowing the driver to see beneath the SUV.
Compatible Variants - The 540-degree is available in the Empowered A variants onwards.
Competitors With The Same Feature - None of the rivals offer a 540-degree camera. However, all of them offer a 360-degree camera.
Car Name | Feature | Variants |
|---|---|---|
Mahindra BE6 | 360 Degree Camera | Pack Three Select Onwards |
Hyundai Creta Electric | 360 Degree Camera | Executive Onwards |
MG ZS EV | 360 Degree Camera | Exclusive Plus |
VinFast VF6 | 360 Degree Camera | Earth Onwards |
Maruti e Vitara | 360 Degree Camera | Alpha |
All-Wheel Drive

Unlike the Sierra ICE, which is a front-wheel-drive, the newly launched Sierra EV comes with Quad Wheel Drive - Tata's term for AWD. It is not only built for tarmac roads but can also help get the car out of situations where it gets stuck in snow or difficult terrain. However, this feature remains exclusive in the electric SUV space.
Compatible Variant - The AWD feature has its exclusivity to Empowered A AWD variant only.
Competitors With The Same Feature - None of the rivals offer all-wheel drive. Most are front-wheel-drive, and the only rival to offer a different drivetrain layout is the Mahindra BE6, which comes with rear-wheel drive.
Car Name | Drive Type |
|---|---|
Mahindra BE6 | RWD |
Hyundai Creta Electric | FWD |
MG ZS EV | FWD |
VinFast VF6 | FWD |
Maruti e Vitara | FWD |
V2V Charging

The Sierra EV makes overnight stays and mountain camping more convenient with its Vehicle-to-Vehicle (up to 5kVA) and Vehicle-to-Load charging capability. V2V allows EV owners to share power with each other, effectively charging one vehicle from another. However, while the Sierra EV can charge other EVs, the other vehicle must also support V2V to return the favour. V2L, on the other hand, allows owners to draw power from the car to run electric appliances.
Compatible Variant - The V2V charging is available in the Pure S variant onwards.
Competitors With The Same Feature - None of the rivals offer V2V charging. The Hyundai Creta Electric is the only competitor to offer Vehicle-to-Load, available from the Premium variant onwards.
Triple Screen

The Sierra EV goes a step further than most rivals by offering a triple-screen setup — a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch dedicated passenger screen that gives the co-driver independent control over entertainment. Dolby Atmos support is on board as well, and Tata claims the Sierra EV is the first car in India to bring the surround sound experience to Apple CarPlay.
Compatible Variant - The Triple Screen is available in the Empowered variant onwards.
Competitors With The Same Feature - None of the rival EVs offer a triple-screen setup. However, most offer a dual-screen arrangement.
Car Name | Screen | Variants |
|---|---|---|
Mahindra BE6 | Dual 12.3-inch Screens | Pack One Onwards |
Hyundai Creta Electric | Dual 10.25-inch Screens | Executive Onwards |
MG ZS EV | Dual, 7-inch (Driver), 10.1 (Infotainment) Screens | Executive Onwards |
VinFast VF6 | Single 12.9-inch Screen | Earth Onwards |
Maruti e Vitara | Dual, 10.25-inch (Driver), 10.09 (Infotainment) Screens | Delta Onwards |

End Note
The Tata Sierra EV arrives not just as another electric SUV, but as a statement. A 540-degree camera, triple-screen setup, V2V charging, and Quad Wheel Drive - the Sierra EV consistently goes one better across every benchmark that matters in the segment.
What makes it more impressive is the features you get at this price point. AR Head-Up Display, 540-degree camera, AWD, Dolby Atmos on Apple CarPlay, and gesture-controlled tailgate, remained exclusive to the high end cars only but the Tata Sierra EV provides them to the buyers at a starting price of Rs. 18.79 lakh.
For those planning to buy the BE6, Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF6 or e Vitara, the Sierra EV makes a compelling case - it is, without doubt, the most feature-forward electric SUV in its price bracket today.
