Mahindra's future-facing BE lineup already had plenty of visual drama, but the brand has now turned the intensity up several notches with the introduction of the BE 6 Formula E Edition, a limited-run, motorsport-inspired take on its midsize electric SUV. Developed as a tribute to Mahindra Racing's long-running presence in the global Formula E Championship, this edition aims to blend real-world EV performance with styling that feels straight off a street circuit. Prices for the special edition start at Rs. 23.69 lakh for the FE2 and Rs. 24.49 lakh for the FE3 (ex-showroom). Bookings open on January 14, 2026, and the first batch of 999 buyers will get exclusive early-owner benefits. Deliveries begin February 14, 2026. So, does Mahindra's motorsport-flavoured BE 6 genuinely feel special, or is it just a dressed-up EV? Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Design: A BE 6 With Racing Intent Written All Over It

The standard Mahindra BE 6 already leans heavily on angular bodywork and futuristic lighting, but the Formula E Edition goes a step further by injecting a harder, more performance-led visual attitude. The biggest transformation is at the front, where Mahindra ditches the model's C-shaped DRLs for sleeker eyebrow-style LEDs paired with circular projector lamps tucked into deep gloss-black housings. The effect is instantly more aggressive and feels deliberately motorsport themed, almost rally-inspired in stance.

A redesigned bumper with chunky detailing, and a prominent skid plate adds even more attitude. The grille remains sealed, highlighting its EV origins, but the overall face now looks more purposeful and track-ready. The profile is equally expressive. The FE3 variant sits on 20-inch race-influenced alloys, while the FE2 retains the 19-inch wheels of the standard model. Both get bright Firestorm Orange brake calipers and sporty decals on the doors and fenders. Mahindra's signature 12-stripe Formula E graphic runs across the roof and bonnet, marking the brand's 12 years in the championship, a detail that's symbolic yet subtle enough to avoid feeling gimmicky.

The rear fascia tones down the BE 6's original sharpness with redesigned tail-lamps that no longer extend toward the bumper, paired with a special 'BE 6 Formula E' badge. A dual-spoiler setup, one roof-mounted and another integrated into the tailgate, adds a hint of aerodynamic theatre. Available colours include Firestorm Orange, Everest White, Tango Red, and Stealth Black, all contrasted with dark cladding and liquid-metal accents. Among them, Orange and Stealth Black best project its motorsport persona.
Interior: More Racing Cockpit Feels

Step inside, and the Formula E influence becomes impossible to ignore. Mahindra has layered the entire cabin in a bold Firestorm Orange and black theme, which instantly distinguishes it from the standard SUV's subtler palette. This isn't just a colour swap, but the cabin genuinely feels more like a themed performance cockpit. A bespoke, Formula E plaque sits proudly on the centre console, the seats feature Formula E embossing, and even the seatbelts carry FIA branding. The race-style flip cover for the engine start/stop button is a surprisingly theatrical touch, the kind that always makes you feel like you're prepping for launch.

Carbon-fibre-style appliques, translucent door inserts, and a unique striped pattern on the panoramic glass roof build on the car's sense of occasion. The rest of the layout mirrors the standard BE 6, including the signature 'halo loop' that visually separates the driver and passenger areas.
For all of its racing-inspired drama, the BE 6 Formula E Edition remains a thoroughly practical SUV. You get the same airy cabin, usable rear seats, strong storage spaces including a frunk, and amenities like ventilated storage areas, rear AC vents, and a panoramic glass roof. Mahindra has smartly avoided sacrificing everyday usability for the sake of theatrics.
Verdict
The Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition isn't a performance upgrade, but rather a personality upgrade. It's aimed squarely at those who want their EV to stand out and tell a story. Where the standard BE 6 feels futuristic and premium, the Formula E Edition feels expressive, enthusiast-led and genuinely special. Mahindra hasn't gone overboard and the visual changes feel curated, the interior upgrades add emotion, and the existing performance is more than enough to do justice to the motorsport-themed cosmetics. If you love the BE 6 but wished it had a more aggressive, race-inspired identity, this special edition is the one you'll want.
