Mahindra XUV 7XO Exterior Design: Evolution Over Revolution

The Mahindra XUV700 introduced a bold, premium design language for Mahindra, featuring a vertically stacked grille with the Twin Peaks logo, C-shaped LED DRLs, and full-LED headlamps. Its clean side profile was highlighted by multi-spoke alloy wheels and pop-out door handles, while the rear sported LED tail lamps, chunky cladding, and silver skid plates. Overall, it looked mature, imposing and far more premium than the XUV500 it replaced.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO refines that familiar silhouette even further rather than reinventing it. The grille has been redesigned with six elegant vertical slats and a more upmarket finish. The headlamps now feature updated LED internals with animated indicators, while the fog lamps are slimmer and more modern. New alloy wheel designs add freshness, and at the rear, the LED tail lamps take inspiration from Mahindra's newer electric SUVs, giving the 7XO a more contemporary look. Subtle touches like gloss-black elements on the tailgate further elevate its visual appeal.

Interior & Features: A Big Step Forward
Inside, the XUV700 impressed with its dual 10.25-inch screens housed under a single glass panel, running Mahindra's AdrenoX interface with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and extensive connected-car features. Highlights included a panoramic sunroof, Amazon Alexa integration, premium audio, up to seven airbags, and Level 2 ADAS, features that were segment-leading at the time. The XUV 7XO significantly ups the luxury quotient. The cabin now adopts a dual-tone beige and brown theme, departing from the single-tone ivory theme, inspired by Mahindra's newer EVs, making it feel brighter and more premium.

The dashboard of the new XUV 7XO is dominated by a massive coast-to-coast setup comprising three 12.3-inch screens, one each for the instrument cluster, infotainment system, and front passenger display. This is paired with a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, delivering a far richer entertainment experience. The new two-spoke steering wheel, powered front seats with memory function, ventilated front and rear seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, wireless charging, BYOD rear-seat entertainment mounts, air purifier, sliding and reclining second-row seats, and a 540-degree camera system clearly place the 7XO in a more premium bracket. Level 2+ ADAS further enhances safety and convenience. All-in-all, the new cabin feels a lot more premium than its outgoing iteration.

Powertrain & Performance: Familiar Numbers
Mechanically, the XUV 7XO remains aligned with the outgoing model. It carries forward the familiar powertrain lineup, which includes a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 200hp and a 2.2-litre diesel unit with outputs going up to 185hp. Both engines are offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, while the diesel continues to be available with an all-wheel-drive option on select higher variants.
Pricing & Variants
The Mahindra XUV 7XO lineup opens at an ex-showroom price of Rs 13.66 lakh. At the top end, Mahindra has rolled out the AX7L diesel manual with a special introductory price of Rs 22.47 lakh (ex-showroom), reserved for the first 40,000 customers. Sitting below it, the AX7 diesel manual variant is priced at Rs 18.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
