Tata Harrier EV First Look Review; Design

The Harrier EV retains the familiar design that we have grown used to seeing with the combustion-powered Harrier, but like most Tata EV cars, there are elements that differentiate it visually from its smoker sibling. The front-end sees a blanked-out panel replacing the grille, and there is also a full -length lighting strip up front. The front bumper and the lower cooling vents receive similar treatment to other cars within the Tata EV lineup. The profile and the rear are also familiar, but the Harrier EV receives 18-inch aero-optimised alloy rims.

The overall design of the car is more of a subtle differentiation between the regular Harrier and the EV, with some obvius bits that highlight its EV drivetrain. This is probably done to keep its cars as familiar and close to the original as possible.
Tata Harrier EV First Look Review: Drivetrain, Performance And Range

One reason for the significance of the Harrier EV is that it is the first Tata in recent times to feature all-wheel drive technology. While Tata could not equip the comustion-powered Harrier with AWD for engineering reasons, the car maker found it easier and more logical to do so with the Harrier EV instead.

The Harrier EV comes packing with a dual-motor setup, one placed on each axle. While Tata has not specified the total power figure of the car, the front and the rear motors separately produce 155bhp and 234bhp respectively. Tata has, however, listed the cumulative torque figure at 504Nm, which is certainly a mammoth amount for a car that is likely to be driven mainly in the city and on the highway. The behaviour of this car on acceleration and deceleration is yet to be seen, but we should probably brace ourselves for strong performance throught the curve. Rounding things off are four drive modes and six off-road modes to alter the car's character.
Backed by a 75kWh battery pack, the Harrier EV comes with an MIDC-claimed range of 622km on a single charge, and it can be topped up from 10-100% in a claimed time of 10.7 hours via a 7.2kW AC fast charger. A 120kW DC fast charger will take a claimed 29 minutes for a 20-80% charge. All of this sounds interesting; maybe we should conduct a hypermiling run with this car to verify those claims then?
