The most affordable model from the house of Volvo is now here in India, and it is the Volvo EX30, and yes, it's an EV, and to be honest, quite an interesting product. While it stares directly in the eyes of some premium rivals, it offers a long list of features, but at the same time, makes some surprising omissions as well. In this section of the key features explanation, we take a look at the highlights that make it interesting while taking its competitor along, and also looking at the things it does not offer. Do note that the EX30 comes in a single variant, and that is what the SUV offers. 1. ADAS- A Slew Of Features

The Volvo EX30 comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems designed to enhance safety and reduce driver fatigue. Key features include Pilot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Rear Collision Warning, Low-Speed Auto Brake, Post-Impact Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Aid, Run-Off Road Mitigation, and Oncoming Lane Mitigation, all working to keep the vehicle securely within the roads. Additionally, systems like Intersection Auto Brake, Oncoming Mitigation by Braking, Collision Avoidance and Mitigation, and Front Cross Traffic Alert bolster the SUV's ability to predict and react to potential hazards in real time.
Rivals With The Same Features- BMW iX1 also offers a comprehensive ADAS suite.
2. Dual-Zone Climate Control
The standard single-zone climate control automatically optimises fan speed and airflow to maintain a consistent cabin temperature, while still allowing manual adjustments when desired. For added personalisation, customers can opt for the dual-zone climate control system, which enables the driver and front passenger to set individual temperature preferences that the vehicle maintains automatically. Additionally, using the Volvo EX30 app, you can pre-condition the cabin, warming or cooling the interior, steering wheel, and seats, before your journey begins, ensuring a comfortable environment the moment you step inside.
Rivals With The Same Features- The BMW iX1 also offers a dual-zone climate control.
3. Park Pilot Assist

Worried about parking hassles? The Volvo EX30 comes with a Park Pilot Assist that takes the stress out of the process by handling it for you. The system scans for available parking spaces on either side of the vehicle and highlights them on the central display. Once you select your preferred spot, the car takes charge of steering, acceleration, braking, and even gear changes to complete the maneuver. Your role is simply to monitor the process. Designed to adapt to multiple parking situations, Park Pilot Assist can even help you exit from a tight parallel space with ease.
Rivals With The Same Features- BMW iX1 again matches up to the Volvo EX30 with this advanced self-park feature.

4. 12.3 Inch Centre Display

The Volvo EX30 features a 12.3-inch tablet-style touchscreen that serves as both the driver information and central control display, combining functionality with a minimalist, clutter-free design. Powered by Volvo's in-house software and the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform from Qualcomm Technologies, the system offers an intuitive interface with quick access to navigation, media, and connected features. Drivers can customise their experience using different display modes, 'Calm' for essential data like speed and range, and 'Surround' for added information such as active safety systems and traffic visuals. While this single-screen setup enhances the cabin's clean, futuristic aesthetic, the absence of a dedicated driver's display and the reliance on touchscreen controls for nearly all functions, including the glovebox, may feel less practical for those who prefer physical instrumentation.
Rivals With The Same Features- BMW does not offer a single large touchscreen, but a connected screen setup including a separate digital driver's display and a central infotainment unit.
5. Panoramic Fixed Glass Sunroof, But...

The fixed panoramic glass roof of the Volvo EX30 is designed to enhance cabin space with natural light while maintaining passenger comfort in all conditions. The laminated, dark-tinted glass reduces glare, filters harmful UV radiation, and although the roof is pretty big, it misses out on any curtain shade, which, for a country like India, is a pretty big miss, especially when the summer sun is at its full wrath. While the brand says it will be offered at a later date, this is something that might put off a few peeps.
Rivals With The Same Features- BMW iX1 again offers a panoramic sunroof as well, and also comes with a curtain for completely cutting off the sunlight.
Features Missing With The Volvo EX30:
1. Sunroof curtain
2. Rear AC vents
3. Ventilated Seats

Verdict
Volvo EX30 does what you expect it to do, but nothing more. With a price tag that screams entry level for a Scandanavian SUV, it misses out on some signature Volvo niceities, like the hot and cold ventilated seats, something that all the other models offerd until now. Going to the rear AC vents, they are again omitted and for a crossover of this price range, at least the Indian market needs these basic features. But as for everything else, it opens a new avenue for those looking to own a Volvo, widely known for its safety, at a much more appealin price point now.
