The MPV segment of India is growing, right from the Maruti Ertiga to the Toyota Innova Crysta. And just recently Kia launched the Carnival which is by far the best MPV of the lot. MG Motor that gives a tough competition to Kia Motor showcased the G10 MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The 2020 G10 MPV is a direct competition to the Kia Carnival. MG says that it has more features and dimension wise too it is a near rival. It measures 5,168 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,928 mm in height. The design of the MPV is neat and follows a simplistic approach.
MG G10 MPV is available in 7,8 and 9-seater options which is similar to the Kia Carnival. The car displayed was having 9-seater and the top-spec is the 7-seater just like the Carnival. Powered foot-rests are also a part of a package with this MPV.
Feature-wise the G10 gets equipped with multi-zone automatic climate control, a large touchscreen infotainment system, powered sunroof and smart sensing tailgate. It is expected to receive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features.
The Chinese markets receive a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 140 bhp along with a peak torque of 210 Nm. Transmission for the same include a 6-speed automatic or a 5-speed manual gearbox. One also gets a 2.0L turbo petrol engine and a 1.9L diesel which produces 150 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque.
When launched in the Indian market MG G10 MPV will be aimed for the private market, unlike the commercial ones. Internationally, this luxurious MPV is targeted by fleet operators only. We expect that this MPV will sit at a premium price than the Kia Carnival.
