
Eight new automated test tracks in Delhi will soon be set up.
The Delhi Transport Department has floated tenders for the construction of eight new automated test tracks in Delhi to reduce the waiting period for the same. These new tracks will come up at eight new educational institutions in the city. Currently, the state transport department has 10 automated driving test tracks at its regional office in different parts of Delhi city.
The new automated test tracks will cost around Rs. 10 crores and are estimated to be completed in two months after successful bidding. The new track will have up-gradient, forward, and reverse-S, and traffic junctions. The skills of the applicant will be put to the full test with which includes reverse vehicle, S-shaped stretch, parking, overtaking, and intersection crossing.

As was quoted by PTI, a senior transport department official said, These new automated driving test tracks will help reduce the waiting time for applicants seeking permanent driving licenses. Currently, the waiting period before taking up the test is around two months."

The new test tracks will come up in five industrial institutes in Pusa, Jaffarpur, Kalan, Mayur Vihar, Shahdara, Narela, and Jail Road. Test tracks will also come up in Delhi Technological University in Bawana, and Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women in Kashmere Gate. Ne
