Ashok Leyland, one of India's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers, has unveiled the industry's first eight-wheel truck, the AVTR 2620. With the introduction of the AVTR 2620, Ashok Leyland becomes the first and only company in the country to offer a complete range of lift axle trucks with GVWs ranging from 25.5 to 47.5 tonnes.

For a light load, partial load, or empty return trip, the new truck can be operated as a 25.5T (6x2) truck with the lift axle down (offering payload similar to a regular 6x2 MAV truck), or as a 4x2 truck (18.5T GVW) with the lift axle up (lower fuel and operating cost similar to 4x2). This innovative product provides customers with significant operational flexibility, allowing them to select the optimum alternative for their load while also providing best-in-class Total Cost of Operation (TCO) benefits.

The AVTR 2620 is based on the latest AVTR modular truck chassis, which allows for a variety of cabin and feature configurations. It is powered by a 200 horsepower Ashok Leyland engine with iGen6 technology for improved fuel efficiency. The vehicle is available in cowl and three cabin configurations: N Cab, U Cab, and M Cab.

With the suspended cab with dampers, a suspended driver seat, anti-roll bar in the front, storage areas, Full Metal Front Fascia, a Music system, and AC and HVAC choices, the N Cab interior provides the ideal driving experience. It includes digital solutions such as i-Alert (advanced telematics) and remote diagnostics, as well as customer support from the Uptime Solution Centre, which is available 24x7.
