Prices of all the bikes and scooters have been increased because of the shift from BS4 to BS6 emission norms. Manufacturers need to alter the ECU, add fuel injection and advanced catalytic converters to make a vehicle BS6 complaint and this all adds to the cost of the vehicle which we pay. However, some options still remain affordable. Right now, TVS Pep plus is the cheapest BS6 scooter you can buy in the market. Let's see what it has on offer!
TVS Scooty Pep Plus draws power from the same 87.8cc single-cylinder engine that is now fuel injected and produces a peak power output of 5.36 hp and 6.5 Nm of torque @ 3500 rpm. These figures seem low but remember, this scooty is geared towards females and is rather lightweight at just 93 kgs. The engine is mated to a CVT transmission and as now it gets FI, the price has seen a decent bump in BS6 guise. TVS Scooty Pep Plus has a wheelbase of 1230mm and as we mentioned above, weighs 93 kg which comes handy for kids and ladies. The fuel tank is also of a respectable size at 4.2 litres which gives it a comfortable real-world riding range of about 160-180 km.
Before moving further, we clear that TVS also sells the XL super duty which is even more affordable than this, but the XL super duty falls under the moped category and not in the scooters segment. TVS Scooty Pep Plus is the cheapest BS6 scooter with electric start and similar body structure including a flat footboard.
Despite having the lowest price in automatic scooters segment, Pep plus comes with telescopic forks, electric start and LED DRL. Coming to the price now, Pep plus series starts at Rs 51,754 and the top variant is priced at Rs 52,954. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Scooty Pep Plus is offered with 7 colour options which also includes 1 specific colour for lady buyers as well. TVS Scooty Pep Plus doesn't have a direct rival in the market as other scooters are more expensive and generate more power.
