Electric Vehicles Road Tax Exempted By Delhi Government - Approves Over 100 Models For Subsidy

Electric vehicles are known to run cleaner and theoretically cause no pollution. There are a number of electric vehicles that are currently on sale in the Indian market the brands are working to introduce more and more of these in near future. With this being said, while the EVs do have a lot of pros, the total sales number of the EVs remain low. To push the sales, electric vehicles road tax has been exempted by the Delhi Government. Electric Vehicles Road Tax

The Delhi Government is working on its Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy and has introduced a number of initiatives to push the sales of electric vehicles. In the due process, Delhi Government's Transport Department recently issued a notification which stater that the electric vehicles road tax will be completely waived off on battery-operated vehicles. The department was also said to be working on a list that will be having the names of the vehicles on which the road tax will be waived off. Shortly after this notification, the Government released a list that had the names of 100 battery-operated vehicles that will be sold on subsidized rates under this scheme.

With this being said, here is a list of electric cars which are on sales in the market right now and the road tax amount which will be waived off by the Government:

Hyundai KonaRs 2.41 lakh - Rs 2.43 lakh
MG ZS EVRs 2.15 lakh - Rs 2.42 lakh

The Government of Delhi also launched an e-portal for the buyers of the battery-operated vehicles to avail this special subsidy in the form of a road tax waiver. Commenting on the same, Mr. Kejriwal, CM, Delhi, said that this will be helpful in selling more and more electric vehicles in the Capital and thus will help in reducing the pollution.
