In a recent report by Honda Cars India, they have recorded 2032 sales in the domestic market for May 2021. The Japanese carmaker currently sells Amaze, Jazz, WR-V and City in the Indian market. They recently discontinued the CR-V and Civic due to poor sales.
The sales are decent enough even in this second lockdown that is nationwide. The cars have performed well for the manufacturer and they have also managed to export 385 units for the same month.
Commenting on the business situation in May 2021, Mr. Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President and Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd said, Multiple state-wide lockdowns throughout the country to control the spike in COVID-19 infections in May 2021 impacted retail business.

During last month, we also undertook extended maintenance-related shutdown of our factory leading to limited production but effectively breaking the chain amidst the high number of cases in north India. With an increase in the pace of vaccination and the declining cases, we expect markets will open gradually allowing business continuity.
Our field teams are in constant touch with our waiting customers and prospects to facilitate their car purchase through digital mediums. We will closely monitor the on-ground situation with our dealer partners to understand the consumer sentiment and accordingly plan our production and supplies in the coming months.

In other news, Honda revealed the N7X SUV and we believe that if it comes to the Indian market then the vehicle will easily target the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari. If the N7X marks its presence in the Indian market then we believe a 1.6L petrol along with a 1.5L diesel unit will be on the offer.
