Hyundai Tucson Facelift To Launch Post Lockdown; Diesel Gets An 8-Speed AT

With the pandemic becoming the talk of the town, the auto industry has been a hit, especially for the new models. And Hyundai Tucson facelift is no exception as the SUV was expected to launch in May 2020. According to recent sources, the date has been pushed to when the lockdown is lifted nationwide (But when will it open?). Well, that is an answer to the question we all have been wondering for a while now.

Now, coming to the facelift version of the Hyundai Tucson then the mid-size SUV competes with new models like the Jeep Compass, Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen T-Roc and higher trims of the Tata Harrier. The exteriors of the SUV gets mild changes to the front grille, fog light housing, L-shaped DRLs and both the front and rear bumpers are new. Yes, the alloy wheels design is also new. Overall, the stance of the Tucson more or less remains the same!

Now, the major changes are under the hood and in the cabin. Sharing details about the engines then Hyundai retains both 2.0L petrol and diesel mills and they are now BS6 compliant. Also, the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol will make 150 bhp with a peak torque of 192 Nm.

The 2.0L oil burner makes 182 bhp with 400 Nm of maximum torque. The petrol model continues with the 6-speed torque converter unit while the diesel one gets an all-new 8-speed torque converter gearbox. Also, the all-wheel-drive function will come with the top-spec GLS trim only.

Hyundai is expected to launch the Tucson in two trims - GL and GLS only. Coming to the features-list on the inside then it will get a new dashboard design with updated upholstery. Also, the placement of floating 8.0-inch touchscreen unit will make debut along with the Hyundai's signature BlueLink Technology. You will also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto too along with Voice Command as other features.

To fair against its competitors, Hyundai also rolls in a larger panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front co-passenger seat, wireless charging, fast charging and other gimmicks for the buyers. With the inclusion in features and updated styling, the prices of Tucson is expected to increase. The mid-size SUV was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and would have launched if the COVID-19 did not happen. Nonetheless, the facelifted Tucson will now launch once nationwide lockdown is lifted.
