MG Gloster Starts Reaching Dealerships - Launch Soon

MG Motor India has been doing great in the Indian market with the Hector and Hector Plus. Now MG is coming up with its fourth offering in the Indian market - MG Gloster. With multiple spy shots and leaks, we have a good idea on how the Gloster will look and what it will offer. As the launch of the MG Gloster is just around the corner, MG Gloster has now started reaching dealerships and bookings are expected to open soon. A white MG Gloster has been spied in a dealership and reveals some good amount of features.

The MG Gloster will the first premium SUV of its segment in India to offer Level 1 autonomous driving. Volvo XC40 offers Level 2 autonomous driving for its segment and the Gloster will pitch in the category of XC40 too. MG has given "ADAS" badge on the boot lid along with "4x4" badging which confirms the 4x4 availability. The spy images also reveal the centre console of the Gloster which sports numerous amount of buttons. All the AC controls and buttons support red backlit which seems a bit out of the segment.

The centre console has a rotary dial which is in use to control various driving and terrain modes like Auto, Eco, Sport, Sand, Mud, Rock and Snow. Inspecting closely also reveals ventilated and heated seats, wireless charging, hill descent control and park assist. The gear lever of the Gloster is aircraft-styled - similar to what we see in the Creta. The gear lever has gear markings which have red backlit. MG will also offer E-parking brake and auto-hold function with the Gloster.

Talking about the engine, MG will plonk in the FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine which will produce 218BHP and 480 Nm of torque. The engine is expected to be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. MG also offers a turbocharged petrol engine in overseas markets but that is unlikely for the India-spec Gloster.

The top of the dashboard gets a free-standing horizontal touchscreen which seems to be more than 10-inches. The touchscreen will offer a ton of connectivity features including the famous inbuilt Gaana app. Other connectivity features include personal assistant, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, inbuilt apps, internet connectivity and many more. The fully digital instrument cluster is also visible in the spy images along with an array of buttons on the steering wheel. As the Gloster will boast of Level 1 autonomous driving, the steering wheel will have a ton of buttons including controls of adaptive cruise control.

MG India has also shared in its latest press release that they will launch the Gloster SUV near Diwali. MG Gloster has already started reaching dealerships and the company will soon start taking bookings. MG will pit the Gloster against the ubiquitous Toyota Fortuner, recently updated Ford Endeavour and highly underrated Mahindra Alturas G4. MG is expected to price the Gloster in line with the Fortuner and Endeavour but aims to offer many segment-first features.
