With the significant development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country, India is on the path of adopting electric vehicles in the near future. The requirement for environment friendly mobility has become a necessity since a long time as the current mobility options on offer have increased the carbon footprint to a great extent. So as to curb these emissions, electric vehicles are being considered as an alternative solution, but are they really as environmental friendly as we think of? This problem has been thought over by Atum Charge as they have introduced us with solar EV Charging stations.
Electric vehicles might have zero tailpipe emissions, however, the overall emissions are calculated on the basis of the entire carbon footprint of the process of production, running and scrapping the vehicle. In the entire lifecycle of an electric vehicle, we are unaware of the source of the electricity produced. We might be mistaken of making an ecofriendly decision, but it might be possible that the electricity utilised to charge the vehicle is itself being sourced from fossil fuels or other non renewable resources.

To resolve this issue, the Telangana based Visaka Industries has introduced solar EV charging which we had discussed some time back and now they have set a charging station in Mumbai under the name of Atum Charge. This is the first electric vehicle charging station in Mumbai which is powered entirely by solar energy, thus making the EV charging process ecofriendly.

The organisation has installed 16 charging modules in Mumbai, each having a capacity of 325 WP, generating 24 kWh per day, amounting to a total of 8760 kWh per year. This station has been set up in Malad and it would mostly cater to the requirements of the youth as this region is a convenient and growing workspace.
ATUM Charge claims that it aims to transform the electric charging infrastructure in India by eliminating the use of fossil fuels to charge electric vehicles. This would prove to be one of the biggest chapters in terms of sustainability of the country and would aid to take a leap ahead towards this green revolution.
