In a meeting earlier today, Maruti has agreed to supply the facelifted Brezza to Toyota Kirloskar Motor Private Limited. This will be the second car under Maruti-Toyota partnership after the much successful Glanza. The premium hatchback from Toyota has over 24,000 happy buyers.

This re-badged version of Maruti Brezza will be called 'Urban Cruiser' that will be sold under Toyota's name. Unlike the Glanza which was just a complete re-badged version of Baleno, the Urban Cruiser will receive mild changes on the exteriors and interiors.

On the outside, it is expected to receive mild changes on the grille, front and rear bumpers, grille, alloy wheels and also Toyota badging on the exteriors. The interiors are expected to get a lighter tone upholstery, Toyota badging and graphics!
Like the Maruti Brezza, Toyota's Urban Cruiser will also get a similar 1.5L petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. What remains to be seen is that if the SHVS system will come on the manual versions too like found in automatic trims of Brezza only.
This SHVS technology helps to increase the fuel efficiency which helps in making Brezza the most fuel-efficient petrol SUV. If Urban Cruiser sports this technology in its manual versions then it can be a strong selling point for the SUV!

Like the Glanza which only receives two variants, we expect Toyota to follow the same with Urban Cruiser too. If that happens then the upcoming SUV will be priced higher than the base price of Maruti Brezza which sticks at Rs 7.34 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Once launched, the SUV will get a standard 3 years / 1,00,000 km warranty unlike the 2 years / 40,000 km on the Brezza. We expect that the prices of the upcoming SUV will stick between Rs 8.30 lakh to Rs 10.91 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
