Leading India's 2.0 initiative, Skoda will launch a slew of cars in the domestic market later this year. The manufacturer has already announced several vehicles that will be launched in the Indian market officially. One of these cars is the Skoda Vision IN SUV, which has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for the first time.
The Skoda Vision IN SUV is an Indian market specific concept vehicle that will get a different name when it enters the production. The all-new mid-size SUV will be based on the MQB A0-IN platform that developed specifically for the Indian market.
Earlier this year, Skoda officially announced that the upcoming Vision IN concept would be 4.26 metres long, which puts it against the likes of Jeep Compass in the Indian market. The production of the SUV will start in 2020-21 financial year, and it will go on sale in the first half of 2021 in India.
The official design sketches of the upcoming vehicle show that it will get the butterfly grille in the front, which is a signature design of Skoda. There are several sharp creases on the body, including the bonnet of the vehicle. The Vision IN looks truly futuristic, especially with the body cladding all around and rugged-looking aluminium spoiler.
At the rear, the Vision IN gets wraparound LED lamps with 3D effect and an aluminium diffuser that extends till the bumper. There are horizontal light stripes that connect the reflectors on the tailgate to the bold Skoda lettering in the centre of the car.
The Vision IN will be as futuristic when it comes to the cabin too. Earlier, the sketches released by the manufacturer showed a simple and elegant design of the dashboard.
The Vision IN will be the first SUV to be launched on the MQB A0-IN platform. Skoda is yet to talk about the engine options that will be available with the upcoming car, but it is likely to be a 1.5-litre turbocharged unit with manual and a DSG automatic transmission. The Vision IN will not be available with diesel engine options. However, Skoda may launch CNG powered vehicles in the market in the future. Spy pics via Rushlane
