JAWA Perak Detailed Review

• Perak Looks and Colour Options 8 /10

  The Jawa Perak is a unique motorcycle and there is no motorcycle like the Perak in the sub-5 lakh rupees price segment in the Indian market. At the front, the Perak gets a round-shaped halogen headlamp with black accents all-around. The motorcycle gets chunky telescopic forks that add to its overall muscular character. The Perak gets bar-end mirrors too which don’t offer a good viewing angle if you are riding with your riding jacket on, but they do enhance its visual appeal. Moving to the side profile, one can see that the new Perak is quite a long motorcycle.

  The Jawa Perak has a long wheelbase and the motorcycle looks great from the side profile. The Perak is a stylish bobber motorcycle and it gets a muscular fuel tank. Also, the Perak features a single-piece floating seat and the tail lamp of the motorcycle is mounted beneath it. It doesn’t get any fancy graphics on the body panels. However, the matte paint scheme of the motorcycle that is coupled with golden stripes looks really very good. The motorcycle doesn’t get a pillion seat and there is a large fender at the rear. The new Jawa Perak is available in a single Black colour variant. 

   

  

  Summary

  The new Jawa Perak is a stylish bobber motorcycle and it has a great road presence, thanks to its unique appeal. However, the Perak is available in a single Matte Black colour only.

• Perak Dimensions and Capacity 8.5 /10

  Jawa hasn’t officially specified the length, breadth and width of the motorcycle yet. However, the company has revealed its wheelbase and the Jawa Perak has a wheelbase of 1485 mm and it is one of the longest mass-market motorcycles currently on sale in the country. The company hasn’t revealed its ground clearance either. The new Jawa Perak weighs 175 kgs, it has a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres and the motorcycle has a seat height of just 750 mm, which is very accessible for even short riders. Also, the taller riders won’t find many issues on the saddle.

  Summary

  The new Jawa Perak has healthy proportions, however, the company has not revealed its exact dimensions yet. This bobber-style motorcycle also has a very low seat height.

• Perak Engine Performance and Mileage 8 /10

  The all-new Jawa Perak is powered by a BS6 compliant 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine and it also gets fuel injection technology. This updated BS6 motor churns out 30.64 PS of maximum power and 32.74 Nm of peak torque. It is worth mentioning that upon launch in 2019, the torque figure of the Jawa Perak was rated at 31 Nm but at the time of the customer deliveries, it was increased by nearly 2 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and its gear ratios have been optimised to offer a great riding experience.

  The Perak also gets signature twin Jawa exhausts that have been chopped for the authentic bobber stance and they do sound really good. In terms of performance, the Jawa Perak will surely impress you. This bobber-style motorcycle offers a very good low-end and mid-range performance and there is a decent top-end punch too. The Jawa Perak cruises effortlessly between 80-100 kmph and the motorcycle manages to hit a top speed of around 140 kmph. This motorcycle isn’t meant for mileage runs but it offers a decent fuel economy of around 30-35 kmpl.

  The new Jawa Perak offers very good performance and it is an exciting motorcycle to ride. Moreover, the Perak also offers a decent fuel economy of around 30-35 kmpl.

• Perak Tyres, Brakes and Features 9 /10

  The new Jawa Perak is based on a double cradle tubular frame and despite being a very long motorcycle, it handles pretty well. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are performed by chunky telescopic forks at the front and it gets a unique mono-shock absorber at the rear. The suspension of the Jawa Perak is on the firmer side, you will feel undulations at low speeds and so you need to ride this motorcycle quite carefully. However, once the motorcycle picks up pace, it feels quite planted on the highways which is the benefit of having stiffer suspension. The new Jawa Perak runs on tube-type tyres and it gets spoke wheels. 

  At the front, the motorcycle gets a 100/90 section 18-inch tyre while at the rear, it gets a 140/70 section 17-inch unit. The braking duties on this bobber motorcycle are performed by disc brakes at either end. At the front, it gets a 280 mm disc brake while at the rear, it gets a 240 mm disc unit. The Perak also gets dual-channel ABS as standard as an additional safety feature. In terms of features, the Jawa Perak gets an analogue instrument cluster that displays basic info.

  

  Summary

  The Jawa Perak packs in decent hardware and while its suspension is on the stiffer side, it offers good braking performance. The motorcycle is loaded with basic features too.
