Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen India has done something unexpected - something nobody even thought of in their wildest imaginations brought the legendary Golf GTI to this country. Yes, the most famous nameplate among performance cars will launch in May 2025. Expected price? Somewhere around Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, and limited units will be brought here first. Looking at the demand, VW will bring more at a later stage. Talking about the powertrain, a 2.0L TSI EVO makes 241 hp and 370 Nm, and is able to do 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.0 seconds. The gearbox, which we believe will come to India, will be a 7-speed DSG, although internationally, it is also available with a 6-speed manual.

This is a top spec variant of the Mini Cooper in India. The JCW Pack brings several cosmetic changes that enhances its sportier appeal, but at the mechanical front its same as before - powered by a 2.0L twin-turbo Inline 4 cylinder - making 204 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Gearbox is 7-speed DCT and it does 0 to 100 km in just 6.6 seconds and the top speed 242 km/h. The first major highlight is the 1.0L turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. Customers have the option to choose between a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT. The suspension has been retuned and made stiffer, and the handling feels noticeably more precise compared to the regular i20. The exhaust note also has a lot more depth - it genuinely feels like you're driving a sportier car. Also, to make things even more interesting, Tata didn't provide any automatic transmission; the only gearbox is a 6-speed manual. Also, there are plenty of features and its quite spacious too - still, the engine needs more refinement, as its direct rival's 1.0L engine feels superior in every manner - be it performance or reliability. Verdict
These are the top 5 mini rockets that feel so good to drive, because of their light weight and colossal power available at just the press of the accelerator. Sadly, only these are the hatchbacks available which we can call a hot-hatch, and this is a very sad number. As in the last decade, around 4 to 5 options were there under the Rs 15 lakh price. But now, after the i20, theres just the Mini Cooper.
