Honda Amaze Key Features Explained: First In Segment ADAS & More

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Honda Amaze price starts at Rs. 8.10 lakhs ex-showroom
  • Gets plenty of modern features like ADAS, which is also a segment first
  • Powered by the same 1.2L petrol mill; Churns out 90 PS power

Honda Amaze has entered its new gen phase, and with the design and the overall cabin layout, it has evolved by leaps and bounds. Not the previous gen lacked anything for starters, but this feels like a breath of fresh air. Continuing with the same time-tested Honda heart, we take a look at its key feature highlights and where you can find them across the variant split of V, VX, and ZX. Not just this, its rivals are also now some of the highly equipped models on the market like the Maruti Dzire and the Hyundai Aura, and we will be taking them along for the ride as well to draw a comparison on the feature ground. But before moving any further, if you want more such detailed yet crisp snippets, make sure to join our 91Wheels WhatsApp Group community of petrolheads to never miss out on any updates from the automotive world.

1. ADAS

The Honda Amaze, specifically its top-spec ZX variant, stands out as one of the most affordable cars on the market to offer an ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) suite. This comprehensive suite includes features such as Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Collision Braking, and more, significantly enhancing safety and driving convenience.

Variants Available: Exclusively with the top-spec ZX trim only.

Competitors With Same features: No rival in its class offers an ADAS suit, making it first in segmemt.

2. Lane Watch Camera

Another feature of this sedan is the lane watch camera that automatically switches on when you shift the indicator for the right direction, assisting in ironing out the blind spots. You can, interestingly, also switch it on with a dedicated button on the indicator shift stick.

Variants Available: It starts from the VX variant onwards.

Competitors With Same features:

  • Maruti Dzire comes with a 360-degree camera, which is a better alternative to the lane watch camera from its
  • Hyundai Aura comes with just the regular reverse camera.

3. 8" Infotainment Screen

The Amaze's interior shares a strong resemblance with the Elevate, featuring a familiar dashboard layout and styling. While the infotainment touchscreen is a slightly smaller 8-inch unit, it remains user-friendly and offers the convenience of wireless phone projection.

Variants Available: It is available as standard across variants.

Competitors With Same features:

  • The Dzire offers a bigger 9" infotainment screen with its top-spec ZXI+ variant
  • Hyundai Aura matches the Amaze in the screen size from the SX trim onwards

4. Wireless Charger

For enhanced convenience, the Honda Amaze offers a wireless charger in its VX trim and above, allowing occupants to effortlessly charge compatible smartphones without the need for cables. But interestingly, it doesn't give it an edge as other rivals also offer the same convenience.

Variants Available: It is available from the VX variant onwards.

Competitors With Same features:

  • Maruti Dzire also offers a wireless charger from the ZXI variant onwards
  • Hyundai Aura matches the rivals and offers it from the SX trim onwards

5. Digital Analogue Instrument Cluster

The Honda Amaze gets a sophisticated semi-digital instrument cluster. While the speedometer retains a classic needle gauge, the tachometer is a digital unit, offering a dynamic display, making the cabin feel a bit more techier than it already is.

Variants Available: It is equipped from the V variant onwards

Competitors With Same features:

  • Maruti Dzire comes with a traditional analogue cluster
  • Hyundai Aura comes with a regular dial instrument cluster across trims

Missing Features It Could Have Offered In This Price Segment

  • Electric Sunroof: Known for a tech-forward cabin, the Honda Amaze could have offered an electric sunroof, as it loses out on that edge with the Maruti Dzire, which offers it in its top-spec ZXI+ variant
  • 360 Degree Camera: Although the lane watch camera is a nice addition, it is not as comprehensive as a 360-degree camera's functionality

Verdict

The Amaze can very safely be called a mini City with the kind of looks and the heart it gets. It is one of those cars that you can generally never go wrong with. Be it the space on offer, the kind of pull that you want from this capacity engine, or the premium feel with a sub 4 meter sedan. Yes, if you were looking for a sunroof, surprisingly, its the Maruti Dzire that you will have to go for. I have to give it to Maruti this time for really setting the bar up high, especially with its 5 star Global NCAP safety rating. For the Amaze, 'You have some catching up to do!'
