Front Look

There is absolutely no difference between the face of the ICE version of 3XO or electric. They are alike, but comes with different powertrains. However, upon closer inspection, Mahindra has added a few bronze colour elements to its body-coloured grille and in headlight, which gives it a bolder stance. Moreover, even the bumper plastic design has a little different pattern, but that doesn't create any significant impact. So, Mahindra didn't bother there designers for this electric SUV.

Side Profile

From the side profile, the XUV 3XO EV remains identical to its ICE counterpart, with no visible design changes. Even the alloy wheel design is exactly the same, featuring the familiar 17-inch diamond-cut alloys. The only EV-specific touch here is the wheel cap, which now carries Mahindra's new logo finished in bronze, and a charging flap at the right-fender, adding a subtle distinction without altering the overall look.

Rear Profile

XUV 3XO

At the rear, the XUV 3XO EV continues with the same Infinity LED tail lamps as the ICE version, keeping the overall design unchanged. The bumper is finished in colourless grey plastic cladding and houses the reflectors, along with a subtle bronze-coloured garnish to give the EV some visual distinction. Apart from these minor touches, everything else remains the same, including features such as a rear washer and wiper, and a rear defogger.

Interior of XUV 3XO

Inside, the XUV 3XO EV's cabin layout remains largely identical to the ICE version. It continues to offer features such as dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 10.25-inch driver display, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The key visual difference comes from the extensive use of bronze accents, which are visible on the central console, around the gear lever, and through bronze stitching on the seats and door trims, giving the EV a distinct identity.

The AX7L variant is the more feature-rich option, offering leatherette seats, Level 2 ADAS, and a 7-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. In contrast, the AX5 variant misses out on these additions, gets fabric seats instead, and comes with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, making it the more basic but cost-effective choice.

Verdict

The Mahindra XUV 3XO EV offers a well-rounded package with strong performance, a feature-rich cabin, and modern technology. Its claimed real-world range of around 285 km is adequate for daily city use, inter-city commutes, and short trips. However, this limited range restricts its ability to serve as the primary family car, especially for buyers who frequently undertake long highway journeys.

Considering an on-road price hovering around Rs 16 lakh, convincing customers that the XUV 3XO EV works best as a secondary or urban-focused vehicle could be a challenge for Mahindra dealers. While it makes sense for tech-savvy, city-centric buyers, families looking for a single, all-purpose vehicle may find its range and pricing difficult to justify.
