Maruti Suzuki Fronx; Key Features Explained!

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Prices of the Maruti Suzuki Fronx begin from Rs 7.59 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • Offers a 1.2-litre nat-asp petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol mill.
  • The Fronx is currently the only Maruti car with a turbo engine.

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, based on the Baleno premium hatchback has been a massive success for the brand and got to the 1 lakh sales milestone fastest in the country. But what does it offer, other than a potent 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine and a sharp aggressive stance?

Let's look at the top features of this compact SUV, but before that, make sure to join our 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel, curated for all the avid petrolheads with all the latest news from the automotive space.

1. 360-Degree Camera

Making navigating through tight spaces a breeze, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx comes with a 360-degree camera set-up that displays the surround view on the infotainment screen while making tight turns or maneuvering the vehicle through congested spots. A blessing for those narrow hill roads!

Variants Available: The Fronx comes equipped with a 360-degree camera from the Alpha MT variant, which begins from Rs 11.54 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competiton Check: The Tata Nexon and the Kia Sonet offer a 360-degree camera in their higher-spec variants.

2. Head-Up Display

Another addition to the Fronx that makes the life of the driver easier is a heads-up display unit. While it looks nifty, it significantly aids the driver by displaying essential drive-related stats and information directly on to the view of the driver.

Variants Available: The head-up display unit is available from the Alpha variant onwards, which is priced at Rs 11.54 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competition Check: The Fronx's own sibling, the Brezza is the only other compact SUV in the segment to offer a head-up display.

3. Wireless Charger

Limited to the top-spec trims, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx offers a wireless charger and keeps the tangling wires in check. This feature is now getting mainstream with some lower-segment cars offering it as well. Plus, this is something you will use on a regular basis if your smartphone supports it.

Variants Available: The wireless charger comes from the Zeta variant onwards, which begins from Rs 10.62 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).

Competition Check: The Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Syros, Tata Nexon, and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza also offer wireless charging for your smartphone.

4. Paddle Shifters (AT Only)

For more in-control gearshifts, the automatic variant of the Maruti Fronx comes with a paddle shifter. It not only adds sportiness to the driving experience, but is an excellent, and in our opinion, should be included with other automatic models across segments. However, due to its added cost, lower segments generally don't make sense to include this, talking economically.

Variants Available: The paddle shifters are available with the Zeta variants that offer the turbo-petrol engine with the torque-converter transmission. The Zeta MT begins from Rs 10.62 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competition Check: The Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and the Brezza are all equipped with paddle shifters in the variants which offer an automatic transmission.

5. 6 Airbags

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

The Fronx comes with 6 airbags, and there are also some other safety features on offer, such as hill-hold assist, ESP, ABS, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seat belt reminders among other things.

Variants Available: The Fronx was recently upgraded to offer 6 airbags across all variants.

Competition Check: The Kia Sonet offers six airbags across its variants, while the Tata Nexon offers two, but it has scored five stars at the GNCAP.

6. Rear AC Vents

For effective cooling and ventilation for the rear seat passengers, the Fronx comes with rear AC vents that make sure that the back side of the cabin's temperature is well maintained and the occupants feel at ease. On top of this, you also get 2 charging ports below the vents for charging the gadgets making the rear space a well-equipped place to be.

Variants Available: The Fronx offers rear A/C vents from the Zeta variant onwards, which begins from Rs 10.62 lakh (ex-showroom).

Competition Check: The Kia Syros, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Tata Nexon offer rear A/C vents.

Features Missing On The Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Sunroof: Unlike its siblng i.e the Brezza, the Fronx does not get a sunroof at all, which can be considered a miss, considering rivals like the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3XO and the Tata Nexon offer a sunroof in its higher variants.

Ventilated Seats: The Fronx finds itself lacking in this department, as it continues with front seats without any ventilation, and you have the option of manual adjustment only for height, slide and recline.

Verdict

These were some of the key features that makes the Maruti Fronx a rich SUV in terms of the offerings inside the cabin. Going by the price and practicality, it strikes a sweet balance of tech ojn-board, evenly spread out across the variants. Coupled with a more exciting Boosterjet turbo petrol mill, it gives you an option to satisfy your adventurous nerves with a compact SUV, thats friendly for your family needs too.
