The MG Majestor is a D-segment SUV that blends a bold, rugged stance with a premium, luxurious feel both inside and out. It stands out with segment-leading dimensions, being longer, wider, and taller, along with the longest wheelbase compared to rivals like the Toyota Fortuner. Enhancing its road presence further are stylish 19-inch alloy wheels, sleek connected tail lamps, and a sporty twin exhaust setup, giving it a commanding yet refined look.

Interior and Features

The MG Majestor looks very premium inside the cabin, with extensive use of soft-touch materials throughout. It comes with an all-black interior theme. Starting with the drivers seat, it offers 12-way electrical adjustment along with a massage function. Ventilated seats are a welcome addition, especially for summer conditions.
MG has also taken care of co-passengers. The front passenger seat offers 8-way electrical adjustment and a massage function as well. The SUV features 3-zone climate control, with dedicated zones for the driver, co-driver, and rear passengers, along with separate rear controls. It gets dual 12.3-inch displays supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with connectivity features and voice commands. For charging, passengers get two wireless charging pads, multiple charging ports, and a three-pin plug. The boot space stands at 343L, expandable up to 1350L.
Dive in Drive

The MG Majestor is powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. This engine produces 215 PS of power, which is more than the Fortuner, and 478 Nm of torque, which is slightly lower by 22 Nm. The engine feels punchy and delivers power smoothly; however, there is a minor turbo lag of around 2 seconds, which is common in diesel cars. This lag is mostly noticeable when accelerating from a standstill, but once the SUV gains pace, it becomes negligible.
It also offers three drive modes (Sport, Normal, Eco) and three steering modes (Dynamic, Normal, Urban). Handling this SUV in the city can be challenging, especially in tight spaces or while taking sharp turns due to its large dimensions. The turning radius is quite big, often requiring at least two lanes for U-turns. The MG Majestor handles well up to speeds of 7080 km/h, but beyond that, noticeable body roll comes into play, which may affect confidence during high-speed cornering. The braking performance could have been better, as it feels slightly inadequate during sudden stops.
Ride

The ride quality is comfortable, and the second-row seating gives a commanding, boss-like feel. However, despite offering numerous features, MG has missed out on rear side curtains for added privacy. An average-height adult can manage seating in the third row. The placement of AC vents on the roof for the second and third rows ensures effective cooling throughout the cabin.
Off-road
The MG Majestor is a large SUV, and its M-Crawl (low-speed assist) feature helps it tackle off-road conditions intelligently by assessing terrain and obstacles. It automatically manages torque and braking; the driver mainly needs to steer.
Compared to the Fortuner, off-roading in the MG Majestor feels easier and more convenient, thanks to the 360-degree camera and 10 different terrain modes (Sand, Snow, Mud, Rock, etc.). The three differential locks (front, center, rear) can be easily operated via switches on the center console. However, reliance on electronics could be a concern in case of technical issues. The SUV performs well on steep inclines and declines using the M-Crawl feature. Overall, off-roading in the Majestor feels like handling a rugged yet luxurious SUV.
Safety

The vehicle is equipped with a strong safety package, featuring 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes for effective stopping power, and stability systems like ESP, hill assist, and hill descent control. It also includes Level 2 ADAS with 13 advanced features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and rear cross traffic alert, ensuring a safer and more confident driving experience.

Verdict
The MG Majestor impresses with its bold design, spacious cabin, and feature-loaded interior, making it a strong contender in the full-size SUV segment. Its powerful engine and advanced off-road tech add to its appeal. However, body roll at higher speeds and average braking performance leave room for improvement. Overall, it balances luxury and capability well, positioning itself as a practical yet premium alternative in the D-segment SUV in India.
