India's iconic SUV, the 2020 Mahindra Thar was first showcased on August 15 and launched a few weeks back. What remains an interesting factor is how well this SUV is priced thus making it the most affordable 4x4. The 2020 Mahindra Thar not only promises better off-roading capabilities but those weekend trips with your friends too offering a generous amount of boot space with 50:50 split seat too.

Coming to the seating posture then be it the soft-top or the hardtop, 4-seat the mid and high variants offer 4-seats as standard. It is the lower version which makes room for an additional 2 people but then the bench type version is really not suitable for long journeys.

Sharing what's good in the new Thar is that it offers 50:50 split seat layout. That means, whether it is a soft top of a hardtop, the rear seat can be folded independently. The only condition is the Thar has to be in its 4-seat configuration.

So in this TVC above, three friends are going out on the weekend trip. To make room for the third one and also accomodate all the luggage, one seat is folded completely and luggage is fitted to one side while the third passenger easily sits at the back without any worry. In fact, in the four-seater version of the Thar, at the rear, it carries good shoulder room and the wheel arches become your temporary armrest too. Please note that the latter advice is strictly not to be followed.

2020 Mahindra Thar is a promising off-roader and good for weekends too. It gets two engine options - a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine making 150 bhp with 320 Nm of peak torque and another is the 2.2-litre mHawk engine with 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines get a 6-speed manual as standard and an optional 6-speed auto.
