It's been long since Mahindra has been teasing us with the all-new 2020 Thar and now finally they have decided to act on it. They will unveil the hardcore SUV tomorrow that is on the special occasion of Independence Day and soon after a few weeks will launch it. We have seen the spy shots reaching dealerships and few test videos on the road. In this article, we will be telling you about all the things that will come with 2020 Mahindra Thar!
Engine and Transmission
The older 2.5-litre CRDe will now be replaced with a more powerful 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. This, in turn, makes more power close to 138 bhp and will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox. What's new is that a 6-speed automatic transmission is also on the offer. Besides, for someone who is looking for a petrol engine, Mahindra might offer the 190 PS 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine. The diesel will surely be offered with a low-range transfer case right from the base variant.

Features
There's a reason why we are not inclining towards the new design as it is the interiors where the major things happen. The Thar has always been known as a rugged hardcore SUV but this time Mahindra has really improved the cabin.
Inside, you not only get convenience features like automatic climate control, power windows, new MID screen but also a touchscreen infotainment unit which is expected to host Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Besides, the rear now sees a bench type set up which makes it easier for the passengers. It will also get cruise control, the removable hardtop just like the Wrangler and added safety features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, high-speed alert system, rear parking sensors and among others.
Exteriors
The new Thar continues to borrow the styling from the Jeep Wrangler and stick with its basic silhouette as found in the previous generation. We have clearly seen the spy shots and it retains it's seven slat grille, Besides, it now gets new 7-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres. It will carry new headlights with the projector set up and LED DRLs which looks identical like the Wrangler. The 2020 Thar is now incredibly handsome and definitely bigger in size.

Interiors
The cabin layout of the new Thar is well-appreciated than before. The spy shots clearly indicate that the quality of interiors have been improved and it now gets an updated layout. Like the new steering wheel or the inclusion of automatic climate control with switches like an aeroplane and even the rear seat with bench layout is what makes the Thar a comfortable daily driver.
Prices
The new Thar has been completely revamped in terms of design, engine, transmission, interiors or the added features. Clearly, it comes with a price and Mahindra might hike the price of new Thar by a little margin. The SUV rivals the soon to be launched Force Gurkha and is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
