Ather 450x vs 450 Comparison - What All is Different?

Ather launched its electric scooter 450 in 2018 and later launched the 450X in the country. The electric scooter manufacturer is on the verge of introducing more and more models with aggressive designs and prices to attract more customers. Here is a comparison between the two e-Scooters - Ather 450 and Ather 450X for a clear idea of what they offer. The two scooters might look identical but 450X is a much better package than before. Ather 450x vs 450 comparison - Battery and Range

Ather earlier introduced a 18650 lithium-ion battery which is now replaced by a 21700 lithium-ion battery. The battery recently installed has better energy density, usable power without affecting the packaging, and thermal management. A plus point was that Ather was able to replace the battery with the same chassis without disturbing the battery bays dimensions.

With an update in its battery, Ather increased the fast charging rate from 1km/minute to 1.45 km/minute. That means this one is 45% faster than the previous one. Due to a larger battery, the e-Scooter might take longer than usual with the 5A charging socket. On the other hand, Ather 450 takes 5 hours 30 minutes to charge completely whereas the 450X would take 15 minutes extra and will get fully charged in 5 hours 45 minutes.

Ather 450x vs 450 comparison - Specifications

With an update in the battery package, 450X was able to explore the untapped potential of the motor. With slight changes, Ather also updated its power and torque figures. The e-Scooter is now capable of producing 6kW of maximum power and 26 Nm of peak torque which earlier used to be 5.4kW and 20.5 Nm.

Both the scooters carry the same reduction ratio - 1:7.8 due to which the peak torque at the wheel has been increased to 202.8 Nm from 159.9 Nm. when the rider is riding on the Wrap mode, one can feel the added grunt even at lower speeds. The scooter is super quick and has given an open challenge not only to e-Scooters but also to the petrol ones. The table below will explain the statement better.

Features

Ather has introduced a new Wrap mode with its 450X that offers enhanced performance than the previous Sports mode installed in 450. This mode is an addition to the modes available earlier - Sports and Eco.

It also comes with an upgraded instrument cluster whose operating system has been replaced by Android from Linux. For a more fluidic experience, the cluster comes with the latest 1.3Ghz Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor with 4G that is upgraded from a 1Ghz NXP IMX6 quad core with 3G connectivity. The cluster now supports the installation of Android applications as well.

For a better riding experience, the cluster has Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity to access music and call controls. Ather with its 450X is also offering a new set of accessories that include an off-the-shelf tyre pressure monitoring system, and a connected helmet as well which is yet to be introduced.

Ather 450X comes with a lightened dashboard area that has reduced the steering inertia. The electronics package that is offered by the manufacturer is more optimised with slight tweaks in the frame Ather 450X has an 11kg drop in weight as compared to the 450.

The 450X offers fatter 110-section rear and 100-section front TVS Remora tyres and the standard unit comes with MRF tyres same as before.
