Remember the days when you used to step down from your car to negotiate on a traffic offence? Scroll down a contact list to find a leverage? Too old school! As per an order issued by Delhi police, double fines for cops would be charged for any traffic offence!
As per the authorities, it was observed that certain police officers or government personnels were found not wearing a seatbelt in a government vehicle despite occupying the co-driver seat and the offices were reported with multiple incidents of the same kind. Therefore, the additional CP of the traffic police of Delhi has issued an order which implies on all the Delhi Police Personnels to strictly abide by the laws and adhere to the traffic rules in failure of which a cop on duty would be liable for double the penalty. This order has also asked to prosecute both police and any government vehicles which commits a traffic violation in any sense.

This order would help regulate and enforce the rules on government personnel as well so as to maintain regularity and ensure safety. A penalty of this kind would sensitise the police to abide by the laws which they safeguard, thus, leaving no room for a common man to demand for a liberal policy. Therefore, the police personnels paying double the fine for violation would help the departments from facing any kind of embarrassment in the near future. Hence, all traffic police officers have been asked to brief their prosecuting officers to abide by all the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act. Any police personnel found violating the norms would therefore be prosecuted under Section 210 of the Motor Vehicle Act.
