After officially exiting and ending operations in India, Harley Davidson has now returned and has signed an agreement with Hero MotoCorp India. Earlier, the American brand stopped production of its bike in the country as a part of a business overhaul, The Rewire. Under the Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp Distribution Agreement, Hero MotoCorp will now sell and service the Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the country. Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp Distribution Agreement states that Hero MotoCorp will have all the rights to sell and service Harley-Davidson motorcycles and sell Parts and Accessories and General merchandise riding gear and apparel in the Indian market. These will be sold and provided through a network of Harley-Davidson's exclusive dealers and Hero's existing dealership network in India.

In addition to this, as a part of a Licensing agreement, Hero MotoCorp will now also develop and sell a range of premium motorcycles under the Harley-Davidson brand name. This agreement is believed to be mutually beneficial for both the brands and riders in the country as it will help the brands to continue with the sale of items and motorcycles from Harley-Davidson's lineup. Hero's strong distribution and after-sales network too will make it easier for the customers to buy and maintain these bikes without any major hassle.
Hero MotoCorp is the world's largest maker of motorcycles and scooters in terms of unit volumes and will be assisting Harley-Davidson to indirectly continue its operations in the country. Having said that, the agreement will help the American brand control the overall operation costs while it will give access to the world-class technology to Hero MotoCorp.
