The video showcased a series of teaser images and amongst them, Honda teased their new upcoming 5-seater SUV concept. It will be called the ZR-V, and it will be based on the upcoming City and BR-V. Thus sharing a lot of body panels with these respective cars. Here are all the details that you should know about the upcoming Honda ZR-V.

Platform and Design
The upcoming Honda ZR-V will be based on the same newly designed platform of the 2021 Honda City's. This chassis is safer and sturdier than before. It is expected to have the same long wheelbase of 2,600-mm and 1748 mm of width, just as the new City, From the images teased, the new SUV will get a pair of sleek LED headlights. The bumper section looks sporty and it will implement wide air intake, alongside displaying aggressive-looking Daytime Running Lights (DRLs).

The bonnet section dips down to the headlight section with an aggressive slope. Whereas, the raked front windshield, roof rails, and the connected LED taillamp by an LED strip really enunciate the appeal of the Honda ZR-V. It sure does promise to look exciting, but what will it be powered by?

Powertrain and Drivetrain
The ZR-V's powertrain and drivetrain combination are not officially confirmed. However, based on the fact that it will be based on the City and BR-V, chances are that the ZR-V will share their powertrain. Honda's new 5-seater, mid-size SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque.
The engines offered with the 2021 Honda City available in India is a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC petrol engine with Variable Timing Control and a 1.5-litre DOHC diesel engine. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as the standard gearbox option, but the petrol engine gets the benefit of a 7-speed CVT. The newly unveiled Honda BR-V comes standard with the 121Ps 1.5-liter iVTEC petrol engine mated to a CVT transmission, with no diesel engine or manual transmission option.

Honda ZR-V Rivals
When launched, the ZR-V will replace the WR-V. There have been speculations and quite rightfully so, that Honda is working on an all-new SUV that is specific for India. This new SUV aka ZR-V is reportedly going to measure 4.2 metres long, and it will be put in a segment populated by the likes of the Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, VQ Taigun, and Hyundai Creta.
Reports have also confirmed that Honda will launch a new sub-4m SUV that will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and the Tata Punch (maybe).

Verdict
The mid-size SUV segment is seeing quite a number of popular names. The addition of the Honda ZR-V will make the lot look much better. Because for a five-seater SUV, the Honda ZR-V not only looks the part SUV-ish, it also has a coupe-like stance with a tapering roof-style and low slung stance. And since it is based on the Honda City, it gives it the advantage of localised material and a lowered economy scale that comes with platform sharing. Like some of the 5-seater SUVs here, Honda might also launch the ZR-Vs bigger 7-seater configuration, which will rival the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari, and MG Hector.
