Husqvarna is a new name in the Indian Motorcycling History. This is a Swedish two-wheeler manufacturer which comes under the umbrella of KTM AG. We all know that Bajaj Auto owns 48 per cent stake in KTM and so it is truly Bajaj behind the introduction of Husqvarna Motorcycles in the Indian market. Early this year, this Swedish bikemaker made its India debut with two quarter-litre bikes - Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 and Vitpilen 250. Now, the company is all set to launch two more bikes in India - Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401. Here we have for you some more details.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 were revealed at the EICMA 2019. These two motorcycles were about to be launched in India in the first half of 2020. But, all thanks to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, it played the spoilsport and the launch of these motorcycles are delayed. However, now we have got some good news for you. According to the latest reports, the Husqvarna 401s will be launched in India very soon. To be more precise, these Husqvarna Motorcycles will hit the showrooms by end of October 2020. Well, the future of Indian Motorcycling seems exciting.

Talking about these Huskies, so just like the Husqvarna 250s and the KTM Duke 250 share a lot of cycle parts and also the powerplant. Similarly, the Husqvarna 401s will also have a lot of things in common with the KTM 390 Duke. The upcoming Husqvarna 401s will be powered by a BS6-compliant 373.2cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke, DOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This is the same motor that also does its duty in the Duke 390. It will churn out 43.5 PS of power at 9000 RPM and 37 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
In the Husqvarna 401 series, the Svartpilen 401 will be a street scrambler while the Vitpilen 401 will be a modern-day cafe-racer, similar to the 250s. Also, both these motorcycles will get WP Apex 43mm upside-down (USD) forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock absorber at the rear. They will also get a 320 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS as standard. Also, it is worth mentioning that while the International-spec Husqvarna 401s ride on wire-spoke wheels with tubed tyres, the India-spec model will get alloys and tubeless tyres.

Finally, talking about the launch timeline and expected price. So, the new Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 BS6 are expected to hit the Indian showrooms by the end of October 2020. Talking about the expected price, so the quarter-litre Husqvarnas were priced very aggressively and they undercut the price of the KTM Duke 250. We believe a similar strategy will be followed here too to lure the young buyers and it might undercut the price of the Duke 390. The Duke 390 currently retails at Rs. 2.57 lakhs, Ex-showroom Delhi.
