From Daimler AG to Mercedes-Benz AG: Path To Luxury

It was nearly a year ago when the decision of renaming Daimler AG to Mercedes-Benz AG was announced. Finally, 1st February 2022 is judgement day! As per the promoters of the organisation, multiple factors were kept in mind to regulate this decision with a perspective of growth and upmarket vibe. The brand itself has a lot of memories and legacy with the naming strategies, which deeply concern the promoters, digging down the organisation's roots.

Daimler AG to Mercedes-Benz AG

The Mercedes-Benz tag itself comprises two names: Mercedes Jellinek and Karl Benz. Originally, Mercedes-Benz was founded by Karl Friedrich Benz, who invented the first automobile (Yes, it's NOT Henry Ford!) and Gottlieb Wilhelm Daimler (a German Engineer and Entrepreneur), thus being incorporated as the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, abbreviated as DMG. The company was first known by the name Daimler-Benz as a tribute to the founders. After Gottlieb Wilhelm Daimler passed away, entrepreneur and racing enthusiast Emil Jellinek was brought on by chief engineer Wilhelm Maybach, who contributed to create the Mercedes 35hp in 1900. Jellinek named the new cars after his daughter, Merc館s Jellinek, whose Spanish name translated to 'mercy'. The enterprise later trademarked the known name today 'Mercedes' in 1902. While the company continued to trade as Daimler-Benz, the vehicle line-up bore the Mercedes-Benz name, and the premium division fetched the name 'Maybach' after the 1960s.

Its been a general convention for the Three-Pointed Star to be an epitome of luxury, and it has stood a class apart as well. As per the CEO, Mr. Ola Kaellenius, it is a move that has been well thought over, conveying a real chance to raise the candlesticks and unleash the real potential of the Mercedes-Benz stock. With a gain in investors and cash flow, Mercedes-Benz aims to focus on zero-emissions, ground-breaking technology and digital features. Mercedes-Benz AG wishes to focus on luxuries and maintain its standards to be a status symbol with all the innovation they can offer to their customers and expanding its eco-friendly vehicle portfolio.
