One of the most anticipated launches that have been in the news since mid-2020 is that of a newer generation of Mahindra XUV500. Oh, this is now known as the XUV700 and according to the sources it is confirmed that Mahindra will launch the SUV in October this year.
The launch of Mahindra XUV700 is confirmed in October and not only it will carry a new design, but right from a new platform to features and engine options. It will take on the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Hyundai Alcazar.
Dimension-wise, the XUV700 is much longer and has an added wheelbase than the outgoing XUV500. It will also be wider than the XUV500 thus offering a better shoulder space. The suspension has been reworked and over bad patches of the road, the XUV700 will offer better stability and less bumpiness to the second and third-row passengers. There is not much info if the wheelbase will be larger than the Alcazar which sticks to 2760 mm.

Design-wise, it will be more upright and premium looking than the competition. We expect an updated grille design with a more upright style, angular styling of the front with C-shaped headlights and LED daytime running lights. Other changes include a new front and rear bumper design, tweaked taillights, alloy wheels and more. The flush door handles which are seen on the Range Rover Velar will also make their way on the XUV700.
Feature-wise, it will carry everything which came with the XUV500 and also add some top of the line tech, comfort and convenience features. A larger panoramic sunroof, dual-screen layout - one for the driver and the other being the infotainment screen. We also expect it to come with connected car technology, wireless projection of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electronic parking brake, several drive modes, hill hold, hill descent to name a few. Reports also suggest that the XUV700 will come with ADAS that offers adaptive cruise control and lane assist.

Mechanically, both petrol and diesel engines will be available at launch. The petrol will be a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol churning out as much as 189 bhp while the diesel will be an all-new unit. The 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged diesel is expected to generate 183 bhp. Both the engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual and an optional 6-speed torque converter unit.
