
MG's second car in the Indian market is an electric SUV and it became quite popular even before the official price announcement. The MG ZS EV was launched to take on the Hyundai Kona EV and is priced aggressively in the market. The ZS EV is available even with regular Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) in the international markets and as per the latest report, the car will be launched in India with a similar ICE. Yes, the MG ZS petrol might be here next year!
MG is reportedly planning to launch a petrol version of the ZS EV. Powered by a 1.0-litre direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine, it will churn out a maximum power of 111 PS and peak torque of 160 Nm. This will make the MG ZS petrol as powerful as its rivals and will be able to take the mid-size vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h in just 12.4 seconds. The petrol engine powering the MG ZS is reportedly quite smooth and has a powerful low-end torque delivery. It gets a 6-speed transmission and the manufacturer claims that it can do a top speed of 180 km/h. We may also get to see a hybrid version of the SUV in the future.
The MG ZS EV is priced at Rs 20.88 lakhs, or about Rs 21 lakhs. The ICE-powered version of the car is expected to get a price tag of around Rs 14-16 lakhs, depending on the level of features on the base version of the car. When launched, the new MG ZS petrol will take on the likes of Kia Seltos, 2020 Hyundai Creta among others. However, the launch of the car is not expected to happen before 2021. Until then, MG is planning to launch a six-seater version of the Hector, an all-new MPV to take on the Ertiga and an all-new SUV, which will take on the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. MG is also planning to launch all-new sedan in the Indian market and the car will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
As always, the upcoming mid-size SUV is expected to get a long list of features and many of them might become the segment-first. MG is currently
