So, what can it be?
You can click on the above link to watch that video. However, you will need a keen eye to notice that test mule. So, let me help you out. The mysterious spied test mule of the Mahindra micro SUV makes its appearance at the 45th second of the video and disappears in a flash. While most of the people will focus on the beautiful-looking Mahindra Thar but you can notice the prototype version of the micro SUV on the left test track in the background.

So, what can it be and how does it looks? To be very honest, the images of this mysterious SUV are very unclear. It was at quite a distance and also the video clip was most likely captured with the help of a drone camera and so the clip doesn't have many details. What we could still make out is that this spied micro SUV looks very small and it will be a sub-4metre compact SUV. Well, Mahindra already has a very successful compact SUV, the XUV300. So, most likely it will sit at a segment lower than the XUV300.

According to some reports, this mysterious SUV can be the next-generation version of the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. That's because the KUV100 NXT BS6 doesn't sell in good numbers and also it requires a major overhaul to lure the new-age buyers. This might be possible as Tata Motors is also coming up with its new micro SUV, currently christened as the Tata HBX. The Tata HBX will sit below the Tata Nexon in Tata's line-up and similarly, this KUV100 NXT successor will also sit below the XUV300 in Mahindra's line-up.

Currently, the Mahindra KUV100 NXT is one of the most affordable six-seater SUVs in India. It is powered by a BS6-compliant 1.2-litre, mFalcon G80, naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This motor churns out 82 PS of power at 5500 RPM and 115 Nm of torque between 3500-3600 RPM. The engine comes mated only to a 5-speed manual gearbox. While we do believe that the mysterious SUV will be the next-gen KUV100 NXT. But, it might be also possible that Mahindra launches an all-new SUV and not a KUV100 NXT successor. What it will be, only time will tell that.
