Vespa Racing Sixties BS6 Launched in India; Price Starts at Rs 1.20 Lakhs

Piaggio India has launched its new BS6-compliant Vespa scooters in the Indian market. This time the company has not launched any regular scooter, instead, we have got some special edition models. The Italian two-wheeler manufacturer has launched the new Vespa Racing Sixties BS6 in the Indian market. However, these aren't limited edition models and these new Vespa scooters will be in regular production. The prices of the new Vespa Racing Sixties BS6 start at Rs. 1.20 lakhs, Ex-showroom Pune. Here are some more details about them.

The new Vespa Racing Sixties were first revealed at the 2020 Auto Expo. These special edition scooters were scheduled to be launched in April this year. But, thanks to the on-going coronavirus pandemic, the launch was delayed and now it has been finally introduced in the market. The new Vespa Racing Sixties are based on the regular Vespa SXL that is already on sale in the country. Also, this new special edition Vespa scooters are available with an engine displacement of both 125cc as well as 150cc.
Talking about the changes, so these new Vespa Racing Sixties get subtle cosmetic tweaks. They sport racing liveries that are inspired by the Italian racing scene of the sixties and hence they get this name. This new model is available in a base white colour which is called the White Innocenza and it gets three-coat colour. Like all Vespa scooters, they also sport retro charm. The white-coloured scooter gets red and golden colour accents and racing stripes all over the body. Also, these scooters get five-spoke golden colour alloy wheels, a contoured seat and some classy matte-black accents.

As already mentioned before, the Vespa Racing Sixties are based on the Vespa SXL and so they borrow all the features from the SXL model. The 125cc Vespas are powered by a BS6-compliant 124.45cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor churns out 9.79 PS of power at 7500 RPM and 9.60 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. The 150cc Vespas get a BS6-compliant 149.5cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine. This motor pumps out 10.32 PS of power at 7600 RPM and 10.60 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM. Both the engines come mated to a CVT as these are gearless scooters.

Talking about some other features, so these new Vespa Racing Sixties get an all-LED headlamp with integrated daytime running LEDs. They now also get a USB mobile charging port, boot light and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. For braking duties, both the Vespas get drum brakes at the rear. At the front, the 150cc Vespa gets a disc brake as standard with single-channel ABS. While one can choose between a disc and a drum unit on the front for the 125cc Vespa scooter and it also gets a combined braking system (CBS).

Finally, talking about the price, so the price of the new Vespa Racing Sixties starts at Rs. 1.20 lakhs, Ex-showroom Pune. The 125cc model (based on the SXL 125) is priced at Rs. 1.20 lakhs while the 150cc model (based on the SXL 150) is priced at Rs. 1.32 lakhs. All prices stick to Ex-showroom Pune.
