India-UK FTA: In a move that highlights how global trade agreements can directly influence India's luxury car market, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has announced a significant price revision for select Range Rover models imported from the UK. This change comes ahead of the anticipated implementation of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is expected to reduce import duties on completely built units (CBUs). Major Price Cuts on Flagship Models

The biggest beneficiaries of this repricing are the top-spec SV variants:
- Range Rover SV: Price reduced from Rs. 4.25 crore to Rs. 3.50 crore (ex-showroom)
- Range Rover Sport SV: Price reduced from Rs. 2.75 crore to Rs. 2.35 crore (ex-showroom)
This translates to a massive price drop of up to Rs. 75 lakh, making these ultra-luxury SUVs relatively more accessible to high-end buyers in India. The revised pricing has come into effect immediately.
What's Driving the Price Drop?

The upcoming India-UK FTA is expected to rationalize import duties on vehicles sourced from the UK. Since these SV models are brought into India as CBUs, they are directly impacted by duty changes. JLR's move to revise pricing even before the formal rollout of the agreement indicates strong confidence in the policy direction and its benefits.
More Value for Buyers

Apart from the price cut, the Range Rover SV now comes with enhanced standard features. Notably, buyers will get access to premium SV Ultra Metallic paint options (both gloss and satin finishes) as standard, further strengthening the model's luxury appeal.
No Change for Locally Built Models

Interestingly, this price revision is limited to UK-imported models. Vehicles assembled locally in India - including:
- Range Rover
- Range Rover Sport
- Range Rover Evoque
- Range Rover Velar
- Discovery Sport
will continue to be priced as before, since they are not directly affected by import duty changes under the FTA.
Defender and Discovery Stay Unaffected

Models like the Land Rover Defender and Land Rover Discovery will also see no pricing changes. That's because these vehicles are manufactured in Slovakia, and therefore fall outside the scope of the India-UK trade agreement.

Verdict
This pricing move is more than just a discount - it signals a shift in how international trade agreements can reshape India's premium automotive landscape. For buyers, it opens up opportunities to own flagship luxury SUVs at relatively lower prices. For the industry, it sets a precedent for how brands might adjust strategies in response to evolving global trade policies.
With the India-UK FTA nearing implementation, this could be just the beginning of more aggressive pricing strategies across segments - especially in the high-end imported vehicle space.
