Nissan is heading back in the right direction with the new Magnite. While we had a good look at the car a few days back, the drives will take place soon and prices will be announced too. Amidst a lot of speculation for the price, it is really confusing to get the price right. We tell you what actually Nissan is up to and at what price Nissan will offer the Magnite.
Nissan Magnite will be the second offering in the Indian market and also the second SUV after the Kicks. Nissan can not go wrong with the Magnite and the pricing will be the key factor. Given an option of a naturally aspirated petrol engine in the base trims, it will decrease the price of the Nissan Magnite by a big margin. We expect Nissan to price the base variants of the Magnite to be priced under Rs 6 lakh ex-showroom which will keep it much lower than the Kia Sonet.

The Nissan Magnite will share its engines with the Triber and the turbo petrol engine plonked inside the Magnite will make its way to the Renault Triber and upcoming Kiger sub-compact SUV as well. The top variants of the Magnite will come with a 1.0-litre turbocharged engine mated to an X-Tronic CVT. Although Nissan was hush about the power figures, the 1.0-litre three-pit turbo petrol is expected to churn out 100 PS and 160 Nm. Also, the engine inherits the cylinder-coating technology from the legendary GT-R.
That being said, one thing is clear that the powertrains won't make a strong point for the Magnite, but the price and features will. Hence, Nissan has left no stones unturned to cope up with the competition. With the key features being 360-degree parking camera, wireless charging, ambient lighting, air purifier, digital instrument cluster, 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play; Magnite seems a feature-packed offering.

Moreover, as we said earlier, the key is the price. Nissan will try to price the Magnite as competitively as they can. We expect the pricing of the Magnite to fall in the region of 6-10 lakh region ex-showroom. Moreover, it will be the silver-lining if Nissan plans some service packages and parts assurance to buyers which will help to build confidence among prospective buyers.
