In addition to the two-wheeler portfolio of Mahindra, the Peugeot Django scooter has been spied testing on the outskirts of Pune. We explain what are its possible specifications against the rivals.
The 125cc category of gearless scooters in India has witnessed a steep increase in sales in recent years. May it be the Suzuki Access, Yamaha Fascino or the Vespa SXL; sales of this niche has been commendable.

To seize the opportunity of an expanding portfolio of these scooters, Peugeot is about to make an entrance. Confirming this news are the latest spy photos of the Peugeot Django scooter that was caught testing on the outskirts of Pune city.
Backed by Mahindra two-wheelers in India, Peugeot Django is an international brand that enjoys decent sales figures internationally and especially in Europe.

Talking about the test mule of the Django scooter, what we have spotted at first glance is the use of a long and wide single seat to accommodate more seating area. Where the international version uses split seats, this has been done keeping in mind Indian buyer requirements. We can also expect more storage space underneath the seat.

Another visible design cues are the use of oval-shaped headlights with LEDs. The same pattern of headlights can be seen on Vespa SXL. The Indian spec test mule also hosted a rectangular screen instead of the original circular design. We suspect it could be an all-digital speedometer with features embedded such as Bluetooth connectivity, step navigation, etc.

Powering Django will be the same 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that is used on international models as well. Peugeot might tune the engine in a linear manner to support good fuel efficiency.
The rear of the scooter is low slung in design. Although camouflaged, we suspect the tail lights to be LED unit as well. The test mule had an MH registration plate indicating the production to be taking place at Mahindra's manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune.
With an expected price tag of Rs 1.4 Lakhs, Django will rival the likes of Suzuki Access, Vespa SXL & Yamaha Fascino.
