Suzuki Jimny has gained quite an attraction globally and there have been several reports about Maruti's decision to bringing the SUV to Indian markets. Now, we have news and we can confirm that the Suzuki Jimny will make its debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The same couldn't be said months ago since it was a skeptical decision from Suzuki if they would showcase the Jimny at the 2020 Auto Expo. The three-door rugged-looking SUV is manufactured in Japan and the popularity of the SUV is such that the waiting period is of 1 year for some countries.

Dimension wise, the Suzuki Jimny measures 3,300 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width and its wheelbase sticks to 2,250 mm. Under the hood, it gets a 1.5L petrol motor which is seen on the Ciaz and Ertiga. This engine produces 102 PS with a maximum torque of 130 Nm. Transmission option sticks to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed torque converter unit.

There is another displacement too for the Jimny, a 660 cc turbocharged petrol motor. This is a Kei version. The hardcore capabilities of the SUV include part-time 4WD with a low range transfer gear, brake LSD and ESP. And also a 3-link rigid axle suspension.
The car will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, however, there is no official confirmation as it'll be launched or not. If launched, it could compete with the upcoming Mahindra Thar. Like the Gypsy, the Jimny will surely cater out to the people who are hardcore off-road enthusiasts.

Suzuki Jimny is not just about being the hardcore off-roader but also provides feature tich interiors. It comes with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It gets automatic climate control, steering mounted control and among others.

It'll be interesting to see if Jimny actually reaches our shores since it will put off well with the Mahindra Thar. The off-roader will be loved for its design, hardcore offroading and the modern features on the inside. Also, it is not sure if Jimny will retain Suzuki terms or add Maruti monicker when it goes on sale here.
