Tata Hexa Safari Edition revealed; Launch soon

Tata has showcased a new version of the Hexa at the 2020 Auto Expo, which will be launched in the Indian market soon. It is the BS6 compliant version of the Hexa, which now gets a few additions and is named as the Safari Edition. The car will be launched in the market in April 2020.

The seven-seater Tata Hexa Safari Edition remains largely unchanged. However, a few cosmetic updates all over the vehicle makes the car look much more muscular and intimidating on the roads. Tata has blacked-out all the chrome parts in the vehicle, which adds a sporty look to the MUV. Also, new 17-inch blacked-out alloy wheels make the whole package look extremely catchy. There are also changes done to bumpers of the vehicle to make it more aggressive. Tata has also added the Safari Edition badging to the vehicle, which differentiates it from the regular Hexa.

The Hexa Safari Edition will meet the BS6 emission norms. It will remain powered by the same 2.2-litre VARICOR 400 diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 154 PS and peak torque of 400 Nm. It will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission as an optional choice.

Tata will continue to offer the AWD with the manual variants while the automatic version of the vehicle will be available only with the 4X2 drive layout. Both manual and automatic 4X2 will be RWD. Nothing has changed in the drivetrain except for the BS6 update.

The cabin of the new Hexa Safari Edition will remain the same as the current version. However, small updates like the black and beige theme will make it look fresher. Also, the Safari Edition badging can be spotted on the dashboard.

It should be noted that Tata also showcased the 7-seater version of the Harrier, which will be named as the Gravitas when launched. The all-new vehicle will be launched before the festive season in the Indian market and will come powered by the 2.0-litre 170 PS - 350 Nm diesel engine. The Gravitas will not offer AWD system like the Hexa and it is expected to become the most expensive vehicle from the manufacturer in the market.
