Last updated on 1st Jun'23 Evolet Derby: The flagship electric scooter from Evolet Motors, the Derby is a sporty-looking product with not-so-sporty performance. The overall mechanical setup of the Evolet Derby has been retained from the other entry-level cheap electric scooters, which makes it an apt and affordable solution for day-to-day short-distance commuting.
Battery and Motor: Powering the Evolet Derby is a hub-mounted 0.25 kW electric motor, which powers the rear wheel and gives this scooter a top speed of 25 kmph. The two battery packs offered in the Evolet Derby – one lead-acid (48V 28 Ah) and one lithium-ion (48V 26 Ah) – claim a maximum riding range of 120 km, the highest among all the scooters offered by Evolet.
Design and features: Unlike the other popular neo-retro models from Evolet, the Derby has a sportier design language, with sharp-looking body panels giving it a sleek and more modern appearance. However, due to entry-level positioning, the build quality of the Evolet Derby is not as great as one would like it to be.The front apron of the Evolet Derby looks sleek and edgy with a slanted design, comprising of a diamond-shaped headlamp at the bottom part. The headlamp has twin gloss black-themed garnish at the bottom edges, while the entire headlamp has black surrounds for a slightly more premium appeal. The handlebar cowl looks wide and edgy, with the lower part of it having a stretched V-shaped lighting panel comprising turn indicators within them. The edgy appeal in the design of the Evolet Derby at the front has been carried forward in the side profile of the scooter, with it having smooth and sleek flowing side body panels below the long seat. The panels below the floorboard also look large and add more visual mass to the scooter’s side profile. The Derby rides on 10-inch wheels shod with 90/100-10 tubeless tyres, and have telescopic forks at the front and dual-sided coil springs at the rear for the suspension setup.The rear profile of the Evolet Derby consists of a wide housing for the tail lamp, which integrates turn indicators within it. There is also a wide aluminium grab rail for the pillion rider behind the seat. The basic features of the Evolet Derby include a fully-digital instrument console, disc brakes and a USB charging socket.
Colours: The Evolet Derby is available in only two colour options – brown and white.
Rivals: The Evolet Derby carries a price tag of Rs 49,124, making it a direct competitor to other cheap electric scooters like Bounce Infinity E1, Yo Drift and Odysse e2Go.
