Variant Recommendation
The TVS Jupiter is offered in a total of 7 variants - Sheet Metal White, Standard, ZX Drum, ZX Drun SmartXonnect, ZX Disc, ZX Disc SmartXonnect, and Classic. While all of these variants essentially use the same engine, the amount of features and accessory options are different. We recommend buying ZX Disc SmartXonnect because of Bluetooth-connected features including navigation and the safety of the disc brake at the front. However, if you’re on a budget, the Standard variant is also a good option.
Pros & Cons of TVS Jupiter
Should I buy the Jupiter?
The TVS Jupiter is one of the top-selling scooters in India. It is a strongly built scooter with no panel gaps and a good fit and finish. Additionally, its design is subtle yet different which makes it easily recognisable on the road. TVS offers it in multiple variants out of which the top versions offer Xonnect Bluetooth connectivity and LED lights. The engine performance of Jupiter is torque-rich and it also churns out good fuel economy. However, its long-term reliability is not as good as Honda Activa and there are also mild vibrations on it. We recommend it to those who want a comfortable scooter with large storage space and a peppy engine.
-
While the design of Jupiter is generic, it looks beautiful and elegant from every side. The proportions of the scooter are nicely designed and it has the appeal of a proper family scooter. Also, the various models and accessories can help enhance its looks into a more premium scooter. The sharp black-coloured alloy wheels, LED lights, and body panels with lively colour options make it look premium.
-
In terms of features, it is one of the most loaded scooters in the segment. If you opt for the ZX Disc SmartXonnect variant, you get an LED headlight, disc brake, alloy wheels, USB charger, mobile phone holder pocket, fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, call/SMS alert, etc.
- TVS Jupiter has a very convenient riding position. The overall seat height is low and the position of the handlebar is also tilted towards the rider. Hence, riders of any height and body shape can easily adjust to it. The legroom is also the height in its segment, thus, providing space to freely move legs as well as place luggage.
- The big single seat is very well cushioned and provides ample comfort to the rider and pillion. Some variants of the Jupiter also get a backrest for pillion; adding more comfort for long rides.
- Jupiter has the biggest underseat storage space of 21 litres. Also, you can easily place your full-face helmet inside it when parking the scooter. The fuel tank size is also increased to 6 litres on it now.
- The engine performance of Jupiter is one of its key highlights. The air-cooled engine of Jupiter is equipped with ETFi (Eco Thrust) that offers a good blend of smooth performance and fuel economy. Moreover, the new BS6 engine generates 15 percent more mileage than the previous model. Thus, using it daily in city traffic is easier as well as fuel economical. We love the punch of this engine but there are mild vibrations that can be felt through the footboard when accelerating hard.
- In terms of braking, the Jupiter top variants come with a front disc brake and rear drum brake. TVS also offers a combined braking system to offer better safety. The initial brake bite of the disc variant is strong and provokes confidence on bad roads. However, on the drum variants, you need to be careful while braking in an emergency.
- The ARAI-certified mileage of Jupiter is 62 kmpl. However, in our city testing, the test scooter returned above 50 kmpl. It means that if ridden sedately, the Jupiter can deliver segment-leading fuel economy.
- The ride quality of Jupiter is among the best among its rivals. The suspension tuning done by TVS is simply wonderful as the scooter absorbs most of the bumps easily. The broken patches of the road and undulations are very well controlled, hence, generating confidence among the rider. Even with a pillion, the scooter remains pliant and comfortable.
- Due to the comfortable suspension and low centre of gravity, the handling of Jupiter is also very agile. It has the shortest turning radius among the rivals and therefore taking tight turns and making sharp U-turns are very easy on it. At high speeds, Jupiter remains confident and sticks to the tarmac well.
