Expert Verdict on 50 SX

KTM 50 SX Detailed Review
- The 50 SX is the smallest of KTM’s ‘sportminis’ made for children.. However, with its knobby tyres and typical dirtbike stance, it still looks purposeful and ready to take on anything.
- The seat line of the current-gen 50 SX has been kept flatter than the previous-gen motorcycle, and the side panels have also been made slimmer to make it easier for young riders when standing on the footpegs.
- Along with the new frame, the 50 SX also comes with an updated fuel tank featuring a new shape and design.
50 SX body specifications:
| Ground Clearance | 233 mm |

- The single-cylinder, 49.9cc two-stroke engine redlines at 11500rpm, producing 5.3bhp and 5.2Nm of torque.
- KTM is also offering its PowerParts catalog with a choice of two power-reduction kits; the first being an entry-level reduction to 3.9bhp, and the second one allowing mid-level riders to unleash 7.8bhp.
- The multi-disc clutch can be adjusted to suit rider needs without needing special tools, and there is also a reinforced clutch basket with improved durability and consistent performance.
- It features a new airbox concept; a conventional suction sleeve made from a hard-wearing polyamide and a twin air filter mounting system placed under the seat.
50 SX engine specifications:
| Transmission | Manual |
| Engine | 49.9 cc |
- The 50 SX is built on a new high-strength steel frame with forged connecting parts integrated into the frame. This allows the suspension, handlebars, bodywork, and the sub-frame to be adjustable for height.
- The 50 SX’s steel frame makes use of 35mm XACT USD forks with 205mm of travel, and the air unit can be easily adjusted using an air pump. At the rear, a fully-adjustable WP XACT monoshock is now mounted differently on the frame.
- A high-quality, black handlebar made out of lightweight aluminium alloy has been used here, and it ensures enhanced stability and vibration damping.
