The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a dual-purpose adventure motorcycle and it looks like a proper ADV. The motorcycle features a lot of off-road specific bits. For instance, at the front, it gets a round-shaped halogen headlamp with a tall blacked-out fly screen (visor). It even gets dual mudguards at the front (one being a high-raised unit) which have their own functions and they look good too. The motorcycle also gets front fork cover gaiters, an aluminium bash plate and more. RE has also installed a new ergonomically adjusted front rack which is leaner than before and helps the rider face minimal interference around the legs while riding, thus, improving the overall riding experience. However, sadly, it doesn’t get a LED headlamp or even LED DRLs.
Move to the side profile and one can see that the motorcycle has a muscular stance. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan gets a tall seat with an upright handlebar and the company has now introduced some new colour variants too. This adventure bike also gets new attractive graphics on the body panels and a new seat too with better cushioning for more comfort. At the rear, the RE Himalayan gets a new LED tail light and a revised steel rear carrier with an additional plate to ensure secure fastening and placement of any luggage. This ADV gets spoke wheels too. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in a total of six colour variants. They are New Mirage Silver, New Pine Green, New Granite Black and old Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey.

The updated Royal Enfield Himalayan measures 2190 mm in length, 840 mm in width and has a height of 1360 mm. The motorcycle has a wheelbase of 1465 mm. This adventure bike has a seat height of just 800 mm which is quite okay for both short as well as tall riders. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan gets a massive ground clearance of 220 mm which is more than enough to tackle speed breakers, rough patches of roads and it feels very comfortable on all sorts of terrain. The motorcycle weighs 199 kgs and it has a massive 15-litre fuel tank.

The engine of the Himalayan is pretty smooth and refined. Also, it doesn’t heat up very quickly and that’s actually a good thing and a lot of hardcore riders will appreciate that. The Himalayan is a great motorcycle for adventure junkies. If we talk about fuel efficiency, the new BS6 compliant Royal Enfield Himalayan 400 delivers a mileage of around 30-35 kmpl in real-world riding conditions, which is very good considering it is a dual-purpose motorcycle.

The motorcycle also gets a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) as an additional safety aid. Also, with the recent update, Royal Enfield has finally offered a switchable ABS with the Himalayan that will be very beneficial while going off-road. The company also claims that it has worked on the braking mechanism of the bike to offer a lesser stopping distance and we can feel the improvement while riding it. If we talk about features, the Himalayan gets an analogue instrument cluster that shows a ton of information. It even gets a compass, hazard light and a new sturdy side stand. The company has now also added the new Tripper navigation with Bluetooth connectivity.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan packs in decent hardware and it is a very capable dual-purpose motorcycle. It is quite feature-loaded too and gets an analogue instrument cluster along with new Tripper navigation that features turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, etc.
