Royal Enfield Himalayan Detailed Review

  • Himalayan Looks and Design

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a dual-purpose adventure motorcycle and it looks like a proper ADV. The motorcycle features a lot of off-road specific bits. For instance, at the front, it gets a round-shaped halogen headlamp with a tall blacked-out fly screen (visor). It even gets dual mudguards at the front (one being a high-raised unit) which have their own functions and they look good too. The motorcycle also gets front fork cover gaiters, an aluminium bash plate and more. RE has also installed a new ergonomically adjusted front rack which is leaner than before and helps the rider face minimal interference around the legs while riding, thus, improving the overall riding experience. However, sadly, it doesn’t get a LED headlamp or even LED DRLs.

Move to the side profile and one can see that the motorcycle has a muscular stance. The new Royal Enfield Himalayan gets a tall seat with an upright handlebar and the company has now introduced some new colour variants too. This adventure bike also gets new attractive graphics on the body panels and a new seat too with better cushioning for more comfort. At the rear, the RE Himalayan gets a new LED tail light and a revised steel rear carrier with an additional plate to ensure secure fastening and placement of any luggage. This ADV gets spoke wheels too. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is available in a total of six colour variants. They are New Mirage Silver, New Pine Green, New Granite Black and old Rock Red, Lake Blue and Gravel Grey.

This BS6 motor churns out 24.8 PS of power at 6500 RPM and 32 Nm of peak torque between 4000-4500 RPM. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed constant mesh manual gearbox. The good thing about the Himalayan is that its engine excels off the road as it has a very good low-end performance and can also comfortably cruise on the road at highway speeds too all day long at decent speeds.

The new BS6 Himalayan offers good low-end and mid-range punch and while its top-end isn’t that exciting, it does the job pretty well. This is a very relaxed motor and it doesn’t feel stressed at all. The engine of the Himalayan is pretty smooth and refined. Also, it doesn’t heat up very quickly and that’s actually a good thing and a lot of hardcore riders will appreciate that. The Himalayan is a great motorcycle for adventure junkies. The Himalayan offers great ride quality and thanks to the long-travel suspension setup, it feels at home even on rough surfaces. This ADV runs on massive tyres for better off-road duties. It gets a 21-inch tyre at the front while at the rear, it gets a 17-inch unit. The front tyre of the motorcycle measures 90/90-21 while the rear one is a 120/90 section 17-inch unit.
