TVS Apache RTR 180 Detailed Review

  • Apache RTR 180 Looks and Colour Options 9 /10

The TVS Apache RTR 180 has always been a good looking motorcycle and with the latest BS6 update, it has got even better. The most recent model of the motorbike keeps the same aesthetic as its forerunner and has a halogen headlamp with LED pilot lighting, an LED taillight, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and a muscular appearance. The Apache RTR 160 BS6 comes in Pearl White, Matte Blue, Gloss Black, and T Grey colours, the same as the BS4 model's colour options.

The new TVS Apache RTR 180 has a design language that is aerodynamic. The motorcycle receives a sizable, powerful fuel tank, as well as tank extensions. Subtle sporty graphics have been added to the body panels of the new TVS Apache RTR 180 to go with its overall sporty appearance. The motorcycle has a belly pan to shield the engine and a lengthy single-piece seat. Additionally, the Apache RTR 180 has golden accents on the forks, which give the bike a luxury look.

    Summary

The new TVS Apache RTR 180 is a very handsome motorcycle. The Apache RTR 180 has a sporty character and it is available in multiple colour variants.

  • Apache RTR 180 Dimensions and Capacity 8 /10

The TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 is a streetfighter and has ideal dimensions. The motorcycle is 2085 mm in length, 730 mm in width, and 1105 mm in height. The motorcycle features a powerful gasoline tank with a total capacity of 12 litres and a 1300 mm wheelbase. A large 170 mm of ground clearance is provided by the Apache RTR 180, which is more than enough to easily cross speed bumps. The motorcycle is 141 kilogrammes in weight. The Apache RTR 180's seat height is 790 mm, making it quite accessible for shorter riders as well.

    Summary

The TVS Apache RTR 180 has decent proportions and the motorcycle offers a massive ground clearance. The Apache RTR 180 is also quite accessible for short riders, thanks to its low seat height.

  • Apache RTR 180 Engine Performance and Mileage 9.5 /10

The 177.4cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that powers the TVS Apache RTR 180 complies with BS6, and it also features TVS' new Race-tuned (RT-FI) fuel-injection technology for improved power delivery and good fuel efficiency. This BS6 motor produces 15.5 Nm of maximum torque at 7000 RPM and 16.5 bhp of maximum power at 8500 RPM. The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Speaking of performance, the Apache RTR 180 produces respectable power and torque numbers on paper. However, you'll truly love riding this motorcycle in everyday situations.

In comparison to the Apache RTR 160 4V and the Apache RTR 200 4V, the TVS Apache RTR 180 does not offer the same ballistic performance. But even at greater speeds, this BS6 motorcycle feels pretty calm and has a respectable punch. Although the Apache RTR 180 has decent mid-range and low-end power, its top-end performance isn't that impressive. The motorcycle is quite easy to ride, and you can easily cruise at speeds of 80 to 90 kmph all day long. However, the greatest cruising range for getting the best fuel economy is between 50 and 70 kph. In realistic riding situations, the Apache RTR 180 achieves a mileage of 45 to 50 kilometres per litre, which is respectable for a 180cc motorbike.

    Summary

The TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 offers decent performance. It does not offer instant thrust or good top-end punch, however, the motorcycle mid-range performance is very strong. The Apache RTR 180 delivers good fuel economy too.

  • Apache RTR 180 Tyres, Brakes and Features

The new TVS Apache RTR 180 sports a Double Cradle Synchro STIFF chassis, which improves the motorcycle's riding and handling qualities. The motorbike has telescopic forks up front and dual Monotube Inverted Gas-filled (MIG) shock absorbers with spring assists in the back for suspension. The Apache RTR 180 provides a comfortable ride and navigates even rough terrain with ease. The motorcycle has blacked-out six-spoke alloy wheels and 17-inch tubeless tyres. The motorcycle's front tyre is 90/90-17 in size, while the rear tyre is a 17-inch unit with a 110/80 section.

The braking duties on the new TVS Apache RTR 180 BS6 are performed by petal disc brakes at either end which helps in better heat dissipation. At the front, it gets a 270 mm petal disc brake while there is a 200 mm petal disc unit at the rear. However, the bike now gets single-channel ABS only, unlike the dual-channel ABS unit offered on the BS4 model. In terms of features, the new TVS Apache RTR 180 gets a semi-analogue semi-digital instrument cluster. The Apache RTR 180 gets an analogue speedometer while all other details are displayed digitally.

    Summary

The TVS Apache RTR 180 packs in decent hardware and the motorcycle offers good ride quality. The motorcycle is also quite feature-rich and gets a semi-analogue semi-digital instrument cluster.
