Buying a motorcycle was, is, and continues to be a big decision for most buyers, and the fact is that our country is still very much a one-motorcycle garage, even though this notion seems to be changing for a lot of us. Of course, buying a motorcycle simply because it gets disc brakes should not be the only factor, but there are buyers out there for whom this criteria is important.
Therefore, we shall take a look at some of the most affordable motorcycles with disc brakes. However, before going any further, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community to keep up with the latest news and updates from the automotive space.

Most Affordable Bikes With Disc Brakes
TVS Star City+

The TVS Star City+ is still around after all these years, and quite honestly, this is one name the author of this story had completely forgotten about. This is a rather simple commuter motorcycle, powered by a 109.7cc engine that produces 8.08bhp and 8.7Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. There aren't many features to speak of, as it comes with a rather simple semi-digital instrument cluster, but it also gets a USB charging port.
At Rs 74,900 (ex-showroom), the Star City+ is the most affordable motorcycle in this list, although not by a big margin. Why? You will see the reason shortly below.
TVS Radeon

The TVS Radeon is a direct rival to the Hero Splendor, and at Rs 77,900 (ex-showroom), it isn't far behind from its more affordable cousin; the Star City+. The Radeon has a loud and bassy exhaust note, which helps it stand out among a sea of 100cc commuters.
It gets a disc brake in the top-end Digi Disc variant, which comes with a negative-lit LCD instrument cluster, adjustable shockers, and a USB charging port. However, the cluster does not support navigation. It also borrows the 109.7cc powertrain from the Star City+, but it gets a disc brake up front.
Honda Livo

The Honda Livo is yet another surprising name that continues to soldier on. Essentially the only entrant from Honda in the 110cc segment, the Livo comes with a front disc brake, and in terms of features, it gets an LCD instrument cluster with a gear position indicator, a digital clock, and service reminder alerts. However, strangely it continues with a halogen headlamp setup, possibly to keep costs down.
The Livo is powered by a 109.5cc engine that produces 8.6bhp and 9.30Nm of torque, paired to a 4-speed gearbox. Priced at Rs 79,809 (ex-showroom), the Livo sits third on this list.
Hero Splendor+ XTEC

You just can't talk about affordable motorcycles and leave out the Splendor. Hero MotoCorp added a disc brake to the Splendor+ XTEC, making it the only motorcycle in its 100cc lineup to get it. The Splendor+ XTEC carries on with the familiar 97.2cc engine, pushing out 7.9bhp and 8.05Nm of torque.
The XTEC variant brings along a fully digital instrument cluster, with bluetooth connectivity but only supporting calls/SMS alerts, and battery levels. There is no navigation available here. This motorcycle could be yours for Rs 80,471 (ex-showroom).
Bajaj Pulsar 125

The Bajaj Pulsar 125 happens to be the only 125cc motorcycle in this list, and when compared to the Hero Super Splendor, Hero Glamour, Honda Shine, and the TVS Raider, the Pulsar 125 happens to undercut them all, with prices beginning from Rs 79,048 (ex-showroom).
The 124.4cc engine puts out 11.6bhp and 10.8Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed gearbox, and in terms of features, it gets a negative-lit LCD instrument cluster, with bluetooth connectivity, call/SMS alerts, but no navigation or gear position indicator.
Verdict
These are among the top five most affordable motorcycles that come equipped with a disc brake. While none of these names are flashy or offer enthusiastic performance, their efficient powertrains and reliability help save buyers a lot of money, and that's why you can find them in huge numbers.
