Should I buy the Alcazar 2021-2024?
The Hyundai Alcazar is a great family car with great comfort, practicality, and powerful performance on offer. It has great features on offer and the premium finish of the interiors makes it an appealing choice. Overall it boasts good build quality and has great safety features as well. So, it is a great deal compared to the Creta. But, if you want other options, then the Mahindra XUV 700, MG Hector Plus, or TATA SAFARI are great.
- The front design of the updated Alcazar looks much fresher in appeal and boasts a strong facia. The updated design of the grill looks more aesthetically pleasing and the headlights are the same as that of old Creta. It has an all-LED setup for the headlights but the throw is not as per the standards. The competition offers much better quality headlights. Overall the front design is appealing and will grow with time.
- Coming to the side profile, it has a bigger stance than the regular Creta. The 18” alloy wheels have an elegant design. Here cost-cutting has been done by not providing a request sensor on the passenger side. The subtle roof rails enhance the SUV's characteristics. The 193mm ground clearance can be a bit of an inconvenience for in-rest and eg-rest.
- At the rear, it has a different design altogether from the old Creta. The LED taillamps get connected by a chrome line and the boot space is decent when all three rows are up. Overall it has a simple and elegant design which has an attractive appearance.
- As we step inside the cabin of the Hyundai Alcazar, it has a sense of premium feel attached to it. The soft-touch materials, leather upholstery, and good view of the outside make it a pleasing place to be in.
- Talking about the features, it has some great ones. They include ventilated seats. There's wireless charging for both front and rear rows. And a panoramic sunroof. Most importantly, there are 64 colors for ambient lighting. The 360-degree camera is very high quality and it provides blind spot monitoring in the instrument cluster.
- The instrument cluster has different modes for display since it is a digital cluster. It looks more appealing and the blind spot monitor helps a lot while driving in the city traffic. The display is crisp and intuitive to use.
- The main core of the Hyundai Alcazar is the 1.5 L turbo petrol engine and the 1.5 L diesel engine. These are the same engines that are powering the Hyundai Creta and Verna at the same time.
- The 1.5L turbo petrol engine has good grunt and performance. It produces 160 BHP and 253 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and 7-speed DCT transmission. It was earlier equipped with a 2.0L Naturally Aspirated petrol engine. It was much better than the turbo petrol engine.
- The diesel engine is quite underpowered in the segment. It is the 1.5L CRDI engine that produces a mere 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. This engine feels weak with the passengers and luggage on travel. It could have had a much more powerful engine.
- Discussing fuel efficiency, this vehicle excels in its segment. The turbo petrol engine can achieve an impressive 9-11 km/L, while the diesel engine offers an outstanding 15-19 km/L. The fuel economy is commendable and varies based on driving conditions.
- The main core of this vehicle is the sheer comfort that it offers on the rear seats and front seats. The seats are well-cushioned and provide great comfort on offer.
- The front seats are well cushioned and provide good comfort with great under-thigh support. It is a comfortable place and munching miles on it won’t be an issue. The rear seats are even more comfortable. You can get bench seats for the 7-seater or captain seats for the 6-seater. This 6-seater version includes a rear wireless charger. It is an added feature. The rear AC vents and charging ports pamper the rear passengers.
- The suspension is tuned to be soft. This creates a luxury ride. It smoothly glides over bumps and potholes. The only drawback is that it can feel bouncy at high speeds, and occasionally allows expansion joints to filter in.The cabin is decently quiet and wind noise and tire noise do not filter inside the cabin.
- The steering wheel is very light in the city conditions. It is easy to tueal and maneuver and the car does feel long while maneuvering in tight space. Overall it could be added with some weight at high speeds for added comfort and confidence to ensure a better driving experience.
